Hi guys in another thread someone asked about this game for iPad. The game is approaching beta and we expect to release some time in June. It is already available Android, PC, X360 and PS3. The game is a Role Playing Strategy game set during the Hundred Years War where you take your army with you through many battles, gaining experience and equipping them. Key battles are introduced by movies for a really absorbing experience. Select missions from the quest map and in battle issue orders in pause time and then start the battle and see things fight out in real time. You can pause at any time to issue new orders. The battlefield is grid based to make selection easier and avoid the issues of RTS clickfest. For a detailed over go here. Features: Free form quest map that allows players to decide when and where to fight within a historical framework. More than 20 different units all accurately researched and carefully modeled in amazing detail. Almost infinite number of equipment combinations. Specialise your squads with over 100 unique skills. Play as the English under the Black Prince. Innovative Battle Card system that gives bonuses and penalties in battle. The most detailed and realistic medieval combat model ever created. These screenshots are from the Android version but we'll update when we have the iPad screens. We expect it to look at least as good but almost certainly better, especially on the latter iPads.
Hell yes!! Thank you Slitherine!! Can't wait to get the next best game on the iPad ...next to Battle Academy of course! I am going to go ahead and pick up the XBOX version but will still get the iPad version as well. Will there be cross-platform play in any form?
This game looks great on Android!! can't wait to see what ipad 3 screenshot looks like!!, will it come with retina display from day one? As a non pc gamer and drifting away from the console scene it's good to see some qaulity stragety games heading to IOS. Day one purchase for me as I've never played a medieval stragety before, what with this Battle Academy and Panzer Corps coming up it's looking to good to be an ipad gamer
There is no multiplayer in this one - its all about the single player campaign. There is multiplayer on 360/PS3 and PC buts its head to head live connections only and it would have doubled or tripled the development time to get that on iOS and Android. The community never really got in to multiplayer anyway - they all played single player so it just didn't seem any point. As far as I remember we have retina support. I haven't seen it running yet but have been promised it any day now!
Wow, Slitherine keeps on rolling. This looks like the most interesting iPad strategy offering from you guys yet.
Will the iOS version (HOPEFULLY) include "skirmish mode?" Also, are the enemy AI units in the campaign randomly generated or are they static each play through? Thanks again for the info and hard work!

Wooo....finally landing on ipad!! I am the one of the many who has urged to port this great game to ipad!!
Hey Pip and Iain: Will the iOS version (HOPEFULLY) include "skirmish mode" like the Android version? Also, are the enemy AI units in the campaign randomly generated on each level or are they static/same each play through? Thanks again for the info and hard work!
Its planned to have all the features of the Android version and I've not heard of an issue with this so I hope so! The campaigns are dynamic but by this I mean the mission offered to you changes depending on the situation. You might have the option of Fighting the Battle or Morlaix, raiding an enemy village or protecting a convoy. There are key mission and "farming" missions. The Morlaix battle is the key story mission to progress things and once completed a new set of farming missions may appear and old ones may disappear. Farming missions do not progress the story but allow you to get bonus items, money etc to improve your core force. Once completed they may disappear, turn in to a different, harder farming mission or stay as they are. The missions themselves tend to be static in that the AI will have the same troops. There are some exceptions to this but I don't remember the details - it was a number of years ago we created the PC versions and I can't remember!
Defard-- I believe they said they were planning on a June release. Pip or Iain, is there going to be a beta we could participate in? I didn't see anything on your website or your forums about it. Thanks again to the Slitherine guys for your interaction with us here .....and of course for making awesome games!!
Hey Iain. June is coming. Any updates or screen shots can be released? As you may notice these days, another great Eastern Style RTS game was just released with overwhelming praise. Trust that GBM could represent the Western Style to fight for the glory on Ipad!! Really excited!!
I'm still hoping for June but I haven't seen a build from the developer yet. We will be running a beta very soon so I'll try and remember to let you know over here when it starts.
Iain, I thought that you and Pip were the Devs, my bad ...... but like Ive said before we really appreciate you guys keeping us posted on all things Slitherine and for bringing such great strategy games to the iOS platform. Also, please pass along to the Devs how eager and pumped the whole community is for this game as I am sure they are aware .....as well as for the future expansions/updates for Battle Academy!! Slitherine is doing an awesome job! Anyway, I know many of us are eager to hear news in the coming weeks of the beta and looking forward to a hopeful full release soon after. Now get back to work and hounding the Devs about that beta before they have a bunch of crazy Americans banging on their walls!!
Almost here!!! HELL F***ING YA!!! from Slitherine Iain via Twitter: I have the first iOS version of Great Battles Medieval running on my Retina iPad right now! Its looking very cool. Not long now! 22 Jun
Release date So when are they finally releasing this game?. I've got a spot on my iPad reserved for a perfect strategy game... A perfect tactical warfare game.... A perfect empire building game. And great battles medieval fits the bill pretty well. Still waiting for Rome total war on the iPad though Total war battles isn't the total war I know and love. At least great battles medieval has real tactical battles..... And not that hexagon puzzle placement ****!
