I finally figured out your problem once I finished the first mission where you meet Diaz(the ambush where you get the AS that you can 1st person aim) and finished the heli mission. I had the problem and it annoyed me until I changed the combat settings to Tap to Shoot(where any free space on the right side of the screen is for shooting) and then the 1st person shooting was back to normal like in the original games. Hopefully this helps if you're still on this forum.

This port is great so far imo.

I'm probably just being an idiot but I'm still have trouble with the iCloud support. Gone through the settings of my iPhone 4S and iPad3. Everything looks fine. It doesn't seem to be even be in the Cloud.

What's random? You touch on whatever free space you have on the right side screen and you start shooting. I assume you're talking about the tap to shoot option.

It's been confirmed this doesn't work on the 4th gen. iPod right?

"Decent enough" is the only way I can put it. It may not be the best possible experience, but if you've got no other alternatives and just must have the game on your phone, you probably won't regret it. I know I certainly don't.

As much as I thought I'd dislike this game (because I only like games with great graphics), I actually enjoy this. I don't know if its because of the gameplay, story line or even both. I'm starting to like the graphics and the music, they suit the game.

Bit of a problem when a game that is entirely about driving and shooting can only really reliably and consistently fudge half of the control requirements to work.

Not being able to comfortably and easily steer, aim and shoot at the same time in a GTA game renders it rather pointless in my opinion. I tried the other GTA games on iOS, they were *awful* for this very reason. Only Chinatown just about got away with it, and even then only just.

As much as people complain about the controls for this and for GTA3 on iOS, I honestly can't say I'm doing any worse at either game than I did when I was playing them on the PS2. With 1on1 fighting games, yeah, I have major complaints about the interface, but even then, it's the interface, not so much something the game can really fix. Same deal with side-scrolling platformers that try to have a directional control that's more than just left/right.

One thing I always liked about VC over 3 was how generous auto-aim is and how much less spastic movement, both on foot and in a vehicle, is in general. Both these things, along with fewer missions that require specific skills beyond the kind of tactics used in most missions, make this an easier game to enjoy on iOS than 3 is.

I don't get all the hate. On my 4S this looks amazing. And once I got the controls adjusted and tap to shoot turned on, it's almost too easy.
Less than three hours of playtime and I've already got the whole map unlocked. The only missions I've had to retry are the one with the RC Helicopter and the one where you have to chase the French courier and retrieve the chips.

My main complaint is the lack of fire and ambulance response and the fact that it almost seems difficult to attract police attention. Otherwise, this is sweet.

I hate the RC mission. Is it easier on touch?

Yes. Way easier. I remember this being SO annoying on my PC. But on my iPhone 5 it was pretty easy. Such a relief hehe.

Also the game looks amazing on the iPhone 5. Extremly sharp and nice colors. Plays incredible smooth and no hiccups.

Controls are fine too. I have not adjusted anything and I can play the game just fine.

    Very great job by Rockstar.

Yes they do a good job on ports (haven't played Max Payne on touch) but they need to fix the iPod touch 4 problem ( do they know how many sales they would have)

My wife's iphone 4 looked like shit running this next to my 4S. It runs pretty choppy too. She doesn't mind it, but I would have deleted it.

"It runs perfect" - no offense, but your standards for "perfect" are pretty low.

It takes a little time, but after some practice most of the controls are manageable. I just hated how the "first person" mode slips my aiming straight up when I hit the shoot button. Happens about 50% of the time. I'm going to try the "tap to shoot" option and see if it helps.

Still a great game though. Too bad about the cheats.

Are you kidding me? It runs like shit on iPad 3. Excuse me but every time there's more than 2-3 cars on screen it drops to 10 fps for a few seconds. Framerate on iPad 3 is just terrible. Seriously I don't know how it can possibly run "amazing" on yours.
