Universal Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (by Rockstar)

I've been waiting for the android release, just in case my tablet supported it (it wasn't on the official list but has more than enough under the bonnet to cope) - however, no surprises that it was a hope too far.

I'm now considering getting it on the iPhone (4S) but I'm concerned that the screen is too small to do it justice - can anyone comment on how it plays on a small screen?

Vice City was always my favourite GTA, certainly from a fun perspective (San Andreas was epic but some of those missions were just.... sheesh) so I expect I'll pick it up, I just don't want it to be a disappointment because of hardware.

But then, if you get busted on a mission in the iOS version you can immediately restart it, that feature wasn't in the PC version. (IIRC from 10 years ago of course... )

I noticed that too... actually every single price I checked against the wiki is 50%. You're still not going to be able to afford the Malibu ($60k now) when you become able to buy businesses unless you grind some cash first.

 

Haha, nice compilation, but some songs are too soft for me... and from ZZ Top, I prefer "Delirious" and "Sleeping Bag" from the Afterburner-CD. Much better for driving...

 

Are the controls improved compared to GTA 3? I liked GTA 3 but the controls made it very hard for me.

 

How does it work on iPod touch 4? In the reviews it says it lags and crashes, but is that really true?

 

Does the game work on the iPad2 ?

 

I'm playing on an iPad 1 and IMO it runs fine. I've only had it crash once.

 

Graphic flickers and crashes galore do not get unless a update fixes this

Ok, there seems to be a glitch where helicopters will just spin, and ignore the turning controls. To fix it, pause the game, then unpause it again.

 

What's with all these glitches didn't they test the game out?

 

Aww... I hope an update is coming soon because this is the number one game I want to play right now.

 

The problem is THEY said iPod 4 is supported and its not, they just want more money and it pisses me off

 

TBH, the iOS version is more stable on my iPad 4 than the (original) PC version is on my PC. I'm on vacation so I've been playing the better part of today and it hasn't crashed once and generally runs very smoothly. The only glitch I get is that helicopter thing that happens about half the time I start up a heli, but that's easily fixed. Maybe the crashes on weaker devices are a memory issue... Android users seem to be unhappy too.

Loaded up my custom playlist and it successfully got imported in-game on the 'Tapedeck' channel.

Problem is... the songs don't shuffle! EVER!
The first song starts playing every time I enter a vehicle or switch stations.

Yeah everyone seems to be ignoring that. No point having 1000 songs in it, it always starts with the first song.

 

Does it make a difference if you physically put your iPod on shuffle?

I know, right? I was so excited when I heard iPod 4 was supported. I guess I will hold on to my money until an update comes (if it ever does,)
