Can't you go into first person view and target your tires and helicopters? There's an option related to first person view in Settings.
I'm not keen on the controls. They're slightly 'out' compared to III. I know you can move the controls, but you can only move them left or right, not up or down. At the moment the steering and break are too high.
I think that's just the manual aim mode that bigger guns (assault rifles etc.) have. But yes you can use that to shoot at anything you like, move the reticule slowly with the virtual joystick or quickly by dragging around the camera anywhere else. You get an AR pretty early but if he didn't play a few missions he wouldn't know about this, as the smaller guns don't allow it. I'm quite happy with the targeting myself, I'm not sure how to do proper manual aiming while also moving around but having the option with the bigger guns to aim while standing still is good enough for me. It's not like I was going to take down a helicopter with a handgun anyway. Oh and btw. I can't believe how much better this game looks on my iPad 4. I just re-installed it on PC a few days ago and I didn't expect the high resolution and the improvements they did to make this much of a difference. It's also a huge improvement over GTA III (that's of course in part just because Vice City was a huge improvement over the original GTA III when it came out). Ninja edit: Is this on iPhone? On iPad you can move them freely and even resize the buttons, I don't know how it could be better than that. But I haven't tried it on my iPhone.
I ask to make sure there is no adult content...I don't wana be caught in an awkward situation on the train, you know. Did they dial it down here in the iOS release, or is it there in its full glory?
Not sure if you're in the right thread here... there is no explicit sex in Vice City but it's a game about shooting people, exploding people, setting people on fire, and taking over the city as a crime lord and they left those parts in. But you could always do pizza boy missions on the train. Hard to run people over with that thing.
No quotes from good old Ken Rosenberg when you get busted... The PC version had a bug like that but here it's just been cut I guess. Shame. The shooting mechanics are pretty difficult to get used to, but better than they were in GTA III nonetheless. Always keep with you a sniper rifle and an assault rifle, those come in very very handy with their first-person aiming mode. Among other things I've noticed inability to hit repeatedly with a melee weapon (i.e. Tommy lowers the weapon after each hit), 50% reduced prices for some property (namely the Swanko Casa or however you call it, little villa next to the Hospital), and the absense of detailed character models (namely fingers, except in cutscenes) on Ipad 2 32GB. The performance on the Ipad 2 is pretty much very good, smooth as butter, BUT the detail and draw distance is slightly reduced, resulting in immense pop-in (especially apparent with vehicles). None of the above should stop you from buying this game if you have an Ipad 2, Mini or above in terms of hardware. It's the good old Vice City, with HD vehicle models, weapon and character models (save the fingers) from the Xbox version. The full game with tons of content, legendary voice acting (I mean come on, Ray Liotta, the leading actor from Goodfellas is voicing Tommy) and soundtrack, in your pocket, for 4.99. Get it.
I prefer my own playlist with stuff like: - Duran Duran / "Hungry Like The Wolf" - Rucka Rucka Ali / "Go, Cops" - Limp Bizkit / "Rollin" - The Clash / "London Calling" - Twisted Sister / "We're Not Gonna Take It" - Beastie Boys / "Fight For Your Right" - Public Enemy / "Fight the Power" - Def Leppard / "Pour Some Sugar On Me" - Queen / "Another One Bites the Dust" - Dire Straits / "Money For Nothing" - Metallica / "Bleedin' Me" - F*ck Tha Police / "N.W.A" and a few more tracks from Billy Idol and Ozzy.
Can someone post a screenshot of the city and what is unlocked from the start? I remember never doing the missions and just killing. Can i also get an opinion on how hard the missions are
Question. So, this is a very good game, I played it on PS2 before. The gameplay nice story nice. But, is it great on iPad 3? Like, the controls, the framerate. I'm using iPad 3, does it run well on it? Is it worth it to own in again on iPad? Any bugs? Problems? Disadvantage playing on iPad?
Yeah I'm on ipad too. I tried, but they seemed stuck to certain axies. I'll have another go. Edit: you're right. However, they cannot be moved below a certain point for some reason. It sucks! I need them lower.
I would think all the music would be listed in a "credits" screen, since the rights holders would want to be credited. Or HAVE to be credited.
While Vice City was a great game (and, while the scale is out of whack, got the geography of the Miami area fairly accurate...accurate enough that I could tell you the real island names; military base was Homestead Airforce Base, though shut down well before the game came out; I think they put Little Haiti in the right spot...etc)...Chinatown Wars was DESIGNED for touchscreens, having been released on the DS. And frankly, I find all the GTA games (never played San Andreas) quite repetitive and not nearly as sandboxy as some make them out to be...I never finished any of them when they came out...always hit a tough mission, got bored of driving and shooting mindlessly, eventually quit... Anyway, I wouldn't skip China Town Wars. It plays better on ios, though the soindtrack sucks.
