Not exactly, it's five times faster than the 1st gen mini while twice as fast as the iPad 4. But ye, SA lacks optimization for A7 chips. The deep difference between A5/A6 and A7 is the whole different architecture of the A7 GPU (G6430 Rogue). I rly hope they release a patch before the store shuts down on dec 21st.
I think you are right, I must have confused the twice CPU speed compared to the first mini. I was wondering whether even the 32bit to 64bit passage may have caused problems in optimization. I am not an informatic engineer, actually I don't know which kind of differences between the previous A6 GPu and the current A7 GPU architecture stand, just basic info found on Wiki lol. I wish I could understand actually
The 32/64 bit shouldn't have an impact on performance, other then the fact that's it's theoretically possible to increase the performance by optimizing the game in true 64 bit mode. The A7 devices uses a new line of GPUs, that could be one issue I guess. The other is the fact that the current A7 devices such as the Air have a lot less RAM to work with compared to A6 devices like iPad 4 (the 64 bit iOS system uses over 100mb more RAM to begin with, factor in all the extra RAM a 64 bit version of any given app will use, and it doesn't look good).
Yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that the A7 is underpowered , just stating that most people having issues are on a A7 device.
So when everything is fixable, like GPU work and 64bit in gaming, what really creates problem is lack of RAM; actually I hoped they could have added more RAM.. But they are always been so stingy
I'm stuck on the 'robbing uncle Sam' mission. For some reason the forklift is really slow and the frame rate stutters even more and more when doing this. Tried 4-5 times and I can't do it. It's too jerky and hard to control. Borderline unplayable Anyone else have this problem?
I don't see how skipping it would help much. This is one of the easiest racing missions in the game. You don't have to follow the route, you don't have to go fast, you don't have to be first...
Just passed it first time. Seems a bit easier that the console version which Rider kept dieing. Smooth for me on iPhone 5. What device you on?
Has anybody had the chance to play the "Supply Lines" RC plane mission yet? Is it still as hard as it was back on the PS2?
The game kept crashing while I was doing the OG Loc mission, I deleted the cloud save and finally got throught it, but still can't start Sweet's Girl, the game crashes as soon as I enter the red mission circle.
I didn't have much trouble with it. I think it's the PC version of the mission, or even easier. I don't remember the original too well at this point but I had heaps of fuel left and that didn't seem right...
It was maddeningly hard in the PS2 version. To give you an idea, nine years after playing GTA SA, the moment I read "Supply Lines" I knew it had been an exercise in frustration. I did pass it back then. I'm not out of Los Santos yet, but that mission still scares me.
Not having more ram is the biggest disappointment with my iPad Air, it should have had more but I have not had any real problems so far with other games, not hit the button on this yet
Hope RAM won't came up as a problem in future on my ipad mini retina. It would disappoint me too much! Because talkin in terms of GPU and CPU is quite a monster for what I want from a tablet
