I've already answered this twice now! NO! But I did email R* to request them, and it seemed a positive response - they didn't rule out entirely the possibility.
Through their contact email on their homepage. http://www.wardrumstudios.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=4&Itemid=15 @Sid: Okay, thank you.
Truly an awesome game. Probably won't but it because of the dozens of hours I put in back in the PS2 days. Plus, im still working through vice city... Now (listen up Rockstar) if/when they put out Red Dead Redemption on ios I will be all over it!!!!
Crouch is double tapping the joystick. Driving is a little cumbersome with the stick. I haven't tried the other two methods.
I think some of the textures are better like CJ's jeans. Not that the enhanced textures hold up to current games of course. I think the mobile optimizations probably took more time than the graphics optimizations. In interviews for Vice City Anniversary, Rockstar said they went through every mission to tweak them as necessary to better match the new controls and modern difficulty sensibilities. Presumably they did the same for San Andreas. Implementing auto-save on a game that wasn't originally designed for it, especially a game as dynamic and unpredictable as GTA, probably also took extensive testing to make sure everything resumes correctly. As for the performance optimization for the latest A7, this is the first time GTA is coming to Windows Phone which probably drained development resources. Previously they only had to work in OpenGL ES to target both iOS and Android, now they have to maintain a DirectX build for Windows Phone. I wonder if it was Rockstar's own idea to support Windows Phone or whether Microsoft pressured or subsidized the port? The first patch for Vice City Anniversary came 11 days after release. Hopefully they'll be able to push out A7 performance fixes before the holiday shutdown.
On my iPhone 4s it was quite laggy until I decided to close all background apps AND reboot the device (hold home + power buttons for a few seconds). After doing that it works like a charm. It is possible that you need to reboot device every time you want to play it, to free all memory completely (as you reboot a PC). Just a suggestion.
I use the analog stick for bike riding and the digital (left, right arrows) controls for driving. I had plenty of practice driving that way with the previous GTA's so I pretty much got it down.
Use the analog stick and push forward and brake to do a endo (stoppie), pull backward to wheelie, hold down gas pedal to sprint and double tap the gas pedal to bunny hop (jump).
I did all of that. Reboot, Airplane mode, connecting to SocialClub/without connecting to SocialClub, etc...doesn't changed at all. But there is still one thing i don't get: Eli was playing it on rMini too on his review and said it was smooth as well as some other guys and now in this thread there are some ppl which suffer from bad framerates...so, what's the deal? I'm an hardcore PC gamer, too and i instantly recognize it when a game stutters. I set up every of my pc games with fraps. And SA definitely has bad framerate issues for me.
The game is much more fun with auto aim turned off. I played Vice City all the way through with the auto aim turned on by default and it wasn't very satisfying. You didn't even have to know where any of the enemies are, just hit the shoot button and it cycles through all of them like a bot. Pointless to play it like that in my opinion and very boring.
Firstly, this game is running great on my 5s. I was absolutely loving the game... until I had to aim a gun. The game gives you two options: free aim (like the pc version) and lock on (like the vice city port). The problem for me with these controls is the fact that it doesn't allow you to shoot while running backwards. As soon as you run backwards and fire, CJ starts pointing his gun to the sky and shooting upwards. Also, if you have free aim on you can't aim while shooting like in other shooters on the App Store. Although this isn't a huge problem, it definitely makes combat awkward. Maybe the developers could have an option so that the camera doesn't follow you each time you turn so that the controls would be like the Max Payne port. Otherwise than those few problems, this is a solid port with great upgraded graphics.
Same here! Running great for me too on my 5s, iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. Don't know what all the complaints are about.
