Might be a way to force users to upgrade. This game was originally a nVidia Tegra 2 exclusive for Android. So about doing this with my iPod Touch, do I need to jailbreak my device? It was pretty easy to mod it on my Galaxy S2.
Great game looks good on iphone 4s but even better on the iPad 2. The iPad 2 is so much better for this game.
Yes I use the iPad 2 and I just purchased the game yesterday! Let me tell you it looks amazing on the iPad 2 !!! Totally different from iPhone users...
On the iPad 2 I get the feeling that I am actually playing on a console back in early 2000's. Also you can switch the driving to an analog rather than arrows under settings. I am loving how iOS is getting old console games.
Which features that Rockstar disabled are RAM intensive? Lower quality textures and lower polygon models, yes, but those aren't what people are complaining about. Street lights, traffic lights, car lights, shadows those are all GPU processing intensive rather than mainly RAM intensive. Blood stains are textures, but wouldn't be big, but adding them probably requires another rendering pass which isn't good for performance. The SGX543MP2 in the Apple A5 is up to 7x faster than the SGX535 in the Apple A4. They are not comparable. Additional graphical effects would also require CPU setup time and an 800MHz single core in-order Cortex A8 frankly doesn't have much to spare when already handling the AI, physics, and scripting for an open world game. GTA III Anniversary was never originally Tegra 2 exclusive for Android. Wasn't the Galaxy S2 and its Exynos part of the original announcement?
It was originally, then a few weeks ago: http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blog/1165377/rockstar_games_confirms_no_gta_iii_for_galaxy_s2.html
I just got to the 2nd island and noticed there was no way to operate the hydraulics on the yardie lobo car. I was always able to do that on ps2. I guess there isnt on the ipad?
Gta3.set Here is the modded GTA3.SET file I made for the IPT 4G. Lights, refraction, shadows, and blood with reduced draw distance. Proves very stable and adds all the goodies without destroying frame rate. http://www.mediafire.com/?5u9v0g9yeo6l8gs
Soo to be honest I think Chinatown wars is 10 times better than this version. Terrible controls, bad and boring storytelling, and the streets don't seem alive like they did in Chinatown wars.
Grand Theft Auto 3 is one of the nominees for Touch Arcade Game of the Week. Do you like this ios version of 10th anniversary celebration of one of the most influential games of all time? If you think Grand Theft Auto 3 deserves to be the winner of TAGOTW, give it your vote now! [thread=116670]VOTE HERE[/thread]
I did try to download the mod, it works perfectly in terms of brakelight, traffic light, etc. but i do notice there's some framrates slowdown, I need some comparison, anyone?
Just finished up the last mission. Overall, a great port. The shooting mechanics could have been better, but I was able to get by using the sniper rifle for many missions. Driving is remarkably solid, even with those two steering buttons.
No, blood is tied to shadows. For all effects enabled go here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2055591&postcount=614
