The default controls work well, but I moved them a little bit and found this control layout is a bit better. It keeps the enter/exit car button in the same place, and attack is also in the same place while both on foot and driving. I don't often use the hand brake so I moved it up out of the way. It would be nice if there was an option to hide the buttons that you don't use like the hand brake and the horn. On foot: Driving:
highly disagree. Play Gangstar and then play this. Just the chatter from people on the streets amazes me. Playing on a 4s and it feels amazing. My son's iphone4 runs it about the same without the lighting effects. Everything about this game oozes with quality. Anyone know how to turn sirens on? Double honking doesn't work.
I think it runs smoothly on the iphone4 as well. However, the perception of what "smooth" is, can be completely subjective.
I agree with your point: it's absolutely *insane* that we can play a full 3d console game on a cell phone....I really *do* remember playing snake on my nokia back then, and being legitimately impressed with it. Makes me wonder where mobile gaming will be in *another* ten years.
Yeah, exactly. It's a frightening thought actually. I mean right now, we're getting titles like Infinity Blade (1 & 2), ShadowGun, Real Racing 2, and now GTA3 which are described as "console like". I can genuinely see the day in the not too distant future where the line between mobile and home gaming is blurred far beyond the point of being distinguishable.
This game is great on my IPhone 4s. I forgot how amazing the soundtrack was..."Take it to the limit!" Does anyone know or heard if there are any secret 10th anniversary items?
took the plunge and bought it - will let everybody know how it runs on my iPod 3g in a bit - and may post a video later. I figure worse comes to worse it'll be ready to go when I upgrade next year.
Yes i did read it wrong. I thought he was talking gaming in general, my bad. Yeah 10 years ago mobile phones were bad, hell 10 years ago my father (who drives truck) still had a bag phone, lol.
still 10 minutes on the download - will let everybody know with in the next half-hour or so how it runs. Will post a video later today or tomorrow.
The blood thing is kinda a bummer but to fix the lag or crashing just close all apps and restart the device. Also free RAM if u can. I get no lag whatsoever. I'm not too far in though but even when I try to induce lag or crash it doesn't happen. I'd go full speed to crash and fire guns like crazy and it runs just like I remember on the ps2. Only semblance of lag is a small load when going super fast or turning a corner quickly. Other than that it's pure quality. I'm on a 4g Touch. Also, the pause menu has a small timeout but works fine.
Oh yeah Hopefully it'll stay up at #1 for a while. Rockstar deserve the money and hopefully if they make a good profit they'll be more likely to port other GTA games to iOS in the future. So if you're reading this and you haven't bought this already. Go and buy it! And don't stop there, buy another copy for your grandma!
Yes. I left a comment on Rockstar Newswire to this effect. Hopefully if iOS users demonstrate strong support, Rockstar will release an update adding the rest of the XBox effects to Apple A5 devices. The main thing missing is real-time reflections. Custom playlist support and tweaking the camera to reduce the auto-correction allowing more player control would also be good. Blood stains on Apple A4 devices with very short persistence should also be doable without compromising performance.
Seriously! And buy one for your pirate cousin 'cause we need Rockstar to stick around! Idc if u haven't bought a game in your life, you NEED to purchase this. Console quality games are no longer a step away. I think this proves it's possible, all we gotta do is prove the money is there to be made!
yep, that's the thought that was going through my head as I was typing that - the thought of ads for games that advertise titles as "coming for console, pc, IOS, and Android" at the given release date, instead of just pc/console. It's seeming whereas IB, Shadow Gun, etc. caused a crack in the dam, Rockstar has opened up the floodgates. Heck, they've already announced that they're porting Max Payne to IOS next year. Another thought that occurs, is that the folks at Gameloft *must* be starting to get a bit nervous. Regardless of what one thinks of their business model, the ability games like Gangstar to turn a profit relies completely on games like GTA 3+ being completely unavailable for IOS/Android.
Gameloft were, in the early days of iOS gaming, the absolute kings. However, my problem with their games is that it doesn't matter what genre they are, they're all the exact same. They use the same graphical effects, the same animation styles, and they have a very distinct (and not in a good way) look to them. I used to have a full page of apps dedicated to Gameloft titles, but now I don't have a single one on my iPhone and probably never will again. They lack the quality seen in iOS games now, while their games look and feel like mobile games (bar Modern Combat 3 to a slight extent).
