Lol iphone4 got old so fast. It lags a bit on mine and the graphics arnt that great but ive only played for one minute. Sigh. Why do every new game have to lag? Infinity Blade 2 and now this? Is it my phone? They turn the graphic so bad but still it lags. Lol. IOS 5.0.1
Get Gangstar 3 if you have a single core device. Seriously. I think the graphics are a lot better, but what's even worse is the driving controls! God, they're horrid!
honestly im a little disappointed, the missions are repetitive and tedious, controls and camera is a little wonky and just a little boring overall IMHO
The graphics are also a lot more draw-in-y in Gangstar, with far less cars and people. Graphics are just an upgrade of GTA 3, I'm happy with it. So far on my iPad 1, I've had a bit of lag in some cutscenes, but generally it's been very smooth, more than I can say for COD: BOZ or Infinity Blade 2. Remembering old missions is very nostalgic.
The graphics look fine. The only real difference is the traffic lights and headlights don't work on the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1 etc. And performance is fine on the iPhone 4. Very smooth frame rate of at least 30 fps, and no crashes at all (iOS 5.0.1). I'll try and upload some screenshots soon.
Plays smooth on iPod Touch 4G... Until it crashes... Will try to reboot, clear multitasking bar, maybe even re-install. If it doesn't work and if they annoy me too much I'll report a problem.
Please let us know how it goes!! I'm also an iPod Touch 4G (IOS 4.x) user and I don't want to update -- I've heard too many horror stories of 5.0.1 borking gaming on iPT 4G -- but I've also seen reports that this plays smoothly on similar devices. I don't know who to listen to AND my financial situation really doesn't permit me to impulse buy and find out for myself if it works or not.
Firstly: ONE THOUSANDTH POST! Secondly, this game is awesome. GTA 3 in my pocket. Maybe you youngsters aren't as impressed as me, but this is astounding. I can cruise around Liberty City, bumping some Game FM all day at work. Hotness. Again, ONE THOUSANDTH POST!
Thanks for this, I will buy it when I get home tonight. If the diference is just lighting and it runs smooth then i'm happy. Just didn't want another disappointment like the performance of infinity blade 2.
For some reason I cannot click on the home button underneath the map to go save and stuff... This is a problems since you know, I can't save. I'm playing on an iPad 1, this sucks, I loved GTA 3 but never finished the story, was planning to do this for the first time, but this won't happen unless they fix this issue.
Here are some screenshots I took on my iPhone 4. Graphics are pretty good overall. People should remember that this is a 10 year old game, so obviously the graphics aren't going to be up to today's standards. There are a few missing effects like no headlights/tail lights, the traffic lights don't work and there are no puddles of blood when you kill someone (although blood does squirt out of them). I'm not really sure why these effects are missing, the game runs so smoothly on my iPhone 4, I don't think they'd affect the performance much if they were included. Maybe they needed to reduce the effects slightly so it didn't crash on the iPod Touch 4 and iPad 1 (with less ram)? Anyway, the graphics look fine and even more surprisingly, the controls work great. Overall it's a great port and well worth £2.99.
Ahh man! This looks so sexy but I can't have it on 3rd gen!! Just a question for if I upgrade device in new year; have Rock* updated the map system to have GPS for your next target location?
Rain is here in full effect.. haven't experienced fog yet. The day/night cycle is the BIZZOMB on the small screen, though.
Game runs about 8/10 on my jailbroken iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 Doesn't crash at all. Only uses about 75-100mb of ram. It does randomly freeze/lag for a split second occasionally though. Not enough to really bother me. Definitely a game that's not getting deleted off my iPhone anytime soon. Anyone on the fence about it just buy it. It's a full on gta game with enough story to keep you entertained for hours. Graphics - 7/10 Sounds - 7/10 Controls - 8/10 Gameplay - 9/10 Music - 8.5/10 Story - 8/10 Price - 10/10
There's no GPS route sytem like GTA 4 if that's what you're thinking of. There's just a marker on your minimap. Not a problem for me though, I know Liberty City very well after countless hours spent playing GTA 3 and LCS So far I've seen rain and a storm with flashes of lighting. I haven't noticed fog yet, but the colour temperature changes throughout the day.
Looks fantastic. How much of the original soundtrack is still there? Anyone too young to remember this game ought to buy it and learn their history if they take gaming even the slightest bit seriously. This is one of the few times where you can legitimately use the term "genre-defining moment". Especially if you consider yourself something of a game critic and like to throw your "advice" out to other people; if you don't know the basics you'll have less of an understanding about the subject as a whole. Do your homework!
