I think I got a censored copy or something. I killed a few pedestrians with my bat and there's no blood on the ground. Bought this at the US app store.
Just want to comment on the quality of the port as it's absolutely stellar. Playing on the iPad and just about everything can be configured to personal preference. This is really how games on the iPad need to be presented regardless of the amount of buttons. One comment on the game: expected it to feel worse than I remembered as that's normally how these oldies present. In fact, it feels better.
Game Impressions Mind = blown!! Am I really playing this game on my PHONE?! Runs like a dream on the 4S and controls are better than anything I could have hoped for. Visuals are top notch and seem to have been translated perfectly for the small screen from what little i've played so far. The idea of being able to traverse through a whole city in 3D hasn't yet settled in yet... needless to say, I look forward to diving into this as soon as I get some time. Damn you, full time job & Skyrim for that!
It's more likely that blood is only present on Apple A5 devices. Just like Apple A4 devices lack car brake lights, shadows, traffic lights, and the XBox high polygon models (only Claude gets them on A4).
Is it possible to turn off autoaim? I don't like it that much. You pretty much have no control. Also, both on screen steering methods (arrows and hovering stick) seem hard to use. Which one do you prefer?
I take it you have played GTA IV on Xbox, or Gears of War 3, or any other recently released game on console. /trollface You never specified it was in terms of the iOS platform. :3
Haha same. And the answer is yes. This game runs amazingly on my iPhone 4. The game play is so smooth with no lag. The controls are solid. The graphics look the same as the original, if not better. I am having such a nostalgic feeling while playing. I have basically forgotten about everything in the game. So when I see certain things it brings back a memory. For example the car crusher that gives you money, then the tunnel right next to it with the homeless guys in it with molotov cocktails, to the banshee in the garage next door to 8 balls, etc. Everything is there from the original!
Wouldn't that be like comparing Aralon's visuals to those of Skyrim's? I say it's a feat in itself that the iOS is able to put out PS2-quality graphics on a regular basis now, closely bordering PS3-quality visuals with titles like Shadowrun, Infinity Blade 2 and Epoch.
I'm not seeing buckets of blood. That sucks, but I got a whole world in my pocket, so that's the shiznit. No blood sucks, though. iPhone 5 time.
This guy was right, it DOES run on the 3GS! After seeing the comment, I TOFTT and it installed! The framerate isn't the greatest but it's playable and runs a lot better than certain games that say they support the 3GS but really shouldn't. Rockstar is awesome! I do want to note that some of the menu text is really small and meant for the retina display and isn't terribly readable on the 3GS screen, but nothing game breaking. I've only played it for 10 minutes so far but it looks like 3GS owners aren't completely left in the dark!
Got in a car, drove around a few blocks, game crashes due to low memory. Great. iOS5 on the iPad 1 has really has screwed up playing the latest games, can't play IB2 because of crashes either. Even games like Monsters Ate My Condo crash due to low memory. Rebooted, crashed again.
Hi guys, I played this on my friends 4S and it looks really nice, I am tempted to get it for my iPhone 4 but I am concerned about the graphics. Can anyone tell me graphically what exactly is different between the two? I know the frame rate is about the same as people say its smooth as butter on the iPhone 4.
