I saw one person post impressions of performance on iPod Touch 4G. Is there anyone else who can confirm it runs well on this device with latest iOS? Edit: Of course, right before I posted this someone actually mostly answered my question.
Just had my PSP liberty City Stories and IPod Touch 4G running at the same time in the same location. Surprisingly the IPod is pretty smooth compared to the PSP.
I am blown away by how good this game is. on iphone 4S no lag, just pure awesome. btw for some reason after rebooting the icon turned into a solid white square.
This is the bad part about lots of good releases at one time. I've been waiting for this to download for like a half hour and it's only like 5% or 10% there. :/ I assume it's because the app store is bogged down. Normally it'd be done in no time.
Just to clarify, for car reflections, when you drive past buildings, do they actually reflect off the car? And if you crash the cars such that the hood pops off, is there just a texture of the engine underneath (as in PS2, PC, and Apple A4 devices) or is there an actual engine underneath constructed with polygons (as in the XBox)? http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=399016 The above website, tried to mod the XBox assets onto the PC version, so gives an idea of what the XBox version added: higher quality textures, higher polygon models, explosion effects with particles, improved flame effects with shaders, real-time reflections, and specular lighting (street lights and headlights illuminate objects in realtime). Are all those features available on Apple A5 devices?
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-31747_7-57343006-243/hit-and-run-grand-theft-auto-3-arrives-on-ios-android/ CNET review is up. They point out that Mission Retry and autosave are new mobile features.
Oh my how time has past. Seems like yesterday when I was driving misty around while listening to flashback, because it has the soundtrack to scarface. The game brings a nostalgic feeling to me. I remember when it first was coming out. A 3D sandbox GTA insane idea. The game is complete and they did everything very well. The controls are great and customizable to fit anyone's liking.
Still going :/ Same here. If you told me when I bought my PS2 that I'd someday be able to get an enhanced version of GTA III on a phone for $5, I'd think you were an idiot.
So first time playing it after beating it on PC when it first came out, brings back so many good memories, and I have to agree with everyone here, the controls are fantastic and are quite frankly the best controls I've encountered for this type of game. Absolutely love it, definitely suggest everyone buy it!
Okay, maybe I am confusing reflection with specular lighting. There is definitely specular lighting. and the engines are constructed with polygons.
The camera is causing me a lot of grief! When I hold my finger down and try to pan around while I run, the screen starts flashing erratically since it is continuously alternating between looking backwards and looking around in front. EDIT: Problem fixes itself after a while and only seems to occur immediately after spawning at the hospital.
App is always crashing for me in the beggining of the game so I need all the time to restart the damn game ahhh I play it on Ipod Touch 4
