Quite bad. And this was only in the beginning of the game, so it will probably get worse when there's lots of action goin on. And with all the timed missions, getting chased by cops etc it probably wouldn't be very enjoyable.
I don't think people actually realize/remember what the game looked like when it was originally released. GTA3 has never been a "pretty" game and really wasn't at the time compared to some of the more smaller/linear TPS of the time. ah, thanks for letting me know - guess I'll get it when I upgrade.
The PSP games had lower polygon models than the PS2 games much less what we have here in the mobile version. In addition to the 32MB of system RAM, the PSP also has 2MB of dedicated VRAM for the GPU and 2MB of dedicated RAM for the sound chip. The PSP's OS is much lighter weight. Actual free memory available on a 4th gen Touch is closer to 110MB. Programming in OpenGL ES has more overhead than directly accessing the hardware as in the PSP, plus we don't know the relative efficiency of the texture formats. The 4th gen Touch does come out ahead, but it's not the 8x difference that 32MB vs 256MB makes it appear. Agreed. It's better than the PS2 version. Competitive with the PC version with pros and cons.
