Hey thanks a lot man, they don't seem as bad as people have been making them out to be on the ipod, I feel good enough with that to instabuy on my iphone 4 as soon as I see it become available
From what I've been told by a UK friend on a 4th gen Touch, once compressed down to a 3.5" screen and in motion, it doesn't look as bad in game as those screenshots make it appear. It can even get quite crowded with pedestrians and vehicles if you stand around some intersections like the one north-east of your first safehouse.
Thanks Paradise and ScorpionXD, I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. Looks fine. Does it run at a good framerate?
I'm usually not a graphic snob in any way because it's all about the game play but those do look pretty bad. Maybe it's just because they're blown up. Is the whole game that dark or is it just night time in those pics? Also why in that one screen shot does it give instructions to hold the hand break when you're not even in a car?
I am hoping not - and remain cautiously optimistic. Hopefully somebody with an old 3rd gen device can confirm or bust this
Played a few min on an iPhone 3GS. It worked but quite bad framerate, and the gfx really takes a hit compared to ie iPad 2. So wouldn't really recommend it to 3 gen users and below.
Bad port? Looking at those iPod touch 4 screens makes me wonder if this is a very lazy port. I would have thought that the A4 devices would be significantly more powerful than the Sony PSP especially with regards to ram (32Mb Vs 256Mb), yet the GTA games on the PSP look significantly better than the iOS port with bigger draw distances and alot more effects. What gives?
not to worried about the graphics (I used to play Deus Ex on the lowest gfx settings back in the day), but how bad is the framerate (unplayable? or just really annoying?). Thanks
Say what? The graphics are massively improved over the original. When someone told me GTA III was coming to the App Store, I got a very specific image in my mind, cemented by over a hundred hours of experience with the game back in 2001. Compared to that image, the actual result we've been presented with is mind-blowing.
