lmao 30fps, pathetic. This game runs on a netbook with a steady 60 fps and not to mention the streets are empty.
If I'm not mistaken, I see actual fingers in that gameplay video, which means that this Anniversary Edition is based on the XBox version. That would make it more of an 8 year old game with the benefits being higher polygon counts, higher resolution textures, and shader effects over both the PS2 and PC versions. For reference the XBox had a 733Mhz Pentium III, 64MB of RAM, and a 233MHz Geforce 3 class GPU. If they don't intend go below XBox quality, then that basically puts 3rd gen devices out of the question and explains why 4th gen devices are borderline.
Wow, even iPad 2 doesn't look like it's running so smoothly. Well, the older devices including me would have to wait long
yeah they look really empty. For me, the main attraction of GTAs is lots of vehicles and people that I can mindlessly kill. I barely ever bothered with actual missions during the years that I've had GTA games - it's all about the massacres
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel @chase123: as ltcommander.data has made it clear, a netbook doesn't run this version of GTA3, never mind at 60FPS. That's probably one of the sillier things than I've seen on TA. If the game runs at a constant 30 FPS with they level of graphic detail, that's no mean feat. As to the streets being empty, it's been a while since I've played GTA3, but if I remember correctly, not every street was chock-a-block with pedestrians, especially at night. BTW, there's another short video that shows more people and even rain effects. In any event, basing an opinion of game on someone's shaky cellphone footage is perhaps unwise. I am personally waiting for the official media.
I will for sure buy this just for what seems like film editor mode. Unless that is just to change the camera angle which sucks.
Damnnn.... does this mean i have to get the 4s instead of staying with the 4? they wont even have a setting to scale down graphics or ssomething?
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Here's the shorter video squarezero was talking about for people who want to see people on streets. More of a teaser.
Hmm...so this means that eventually, GTA III will come out for the iPhone 4 and other devices before it?
great. Now I'm gonna have to upgrade again... fking apple, they release a new and more powerful system every year that makes devs make games for ones that powerful only, forcing us to upgrade T_T I've only had my iPod touch 10 months and I'm gonna have to buy a new one when 1 with the a5 chip comes out.
I played this at the comic-con for a few minutes. It's pretty cool. It seemed like there was some slow down, but nothing I wouldn't get over in order to have a full GTA game on my iPad. The graphics are on par with the Xbox version. The touch screen controls are where I have the biggest issue, as will most people I presume. Aiming was a little difficult, although the guy showing me the demo said they were still working on it. I was happy to see the controls are fully customizable as far as where you can put them on the screen. You can position individual buttons, as opposed to only moving a group. That was one of my gripes with Chinatown Wars. Hopefully that will make the controls easier when I have the final version in my hands and can experiment with them. I realized after the fact that I should have asked if it's going to be universal and support iCloud. But if the major game sites haven't said it yet, I'll assume I wouldn't have gotten any solid info from the attendant.
