Im gona give you a hard time and say that Real Racing has good steering (Technically it was made before firemint became part of ea, and even so they are technically independent)
It's also a pretty old game, especially compared to GTA:CW (which came out on iOS just about a year after it came out on the DS). I can't imagine that Rockstar spent more than a few hundred thousand on the port, which they will likely recoup on the first day of release.
I'm just thinking GTA III seems to have a lot more buttons than Gangstar while driving. Extra buttons seem to include, horn, video capture, hand brake, two quick rotate buttons of some sort, dedicated home button, etc. These are all nice to have, but they may make things more complicated than their worth. I suppose they could make all the buttons movable, resizable, and some buttons even optional to help. Driving demand may be one reason, but I don't think GTA III would have any problem selling on iOS at $9.99 just as Chinatown Wars didn't have. There are several games now on the App Store that are even more expensive, so GTA III at $9.99 wouldn't have raised any eyebrows. I think part of the reason for the $4.99 price include the limitations of supporting Android. There's always reports that iOS is where major mobile app profits are being made so while $9.99 GTA III may do fine on iOS, it would struggle on Android. If the Android version shipped later it could potentially be priced lower than the iOS version with some grumbling. But since the Android and iOS versions are launching simultaneously, they need to be price the same, toward the lowest common denominator. The most likely reason though, is that Rockstar really cares about their games and when they say mobile GTA III is to celebrate the game's 10 year anniversary, they really mean it. The primary goal is not to make huge profits, but to bring GTA III to mobile so that they themselves and everyone else can enjoy it anywhere. This is similar to the PS2 ports of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories which were priced at $20 compared to the $40 of the PSP originals and seemed to be intended to let more people experience the story. They may also feel that mobile GTA III is a useful marketing tool toward GTA V, so the lower price is put against GTA V's marketing budget and will be recouped later on.
Rockstar is a gigantic console and pc game company. I doubt that they are that worried about getting as much money as possible out of iOS consumers. GTA III is great to have on iOS, and for a little less profit to Rockstar, more people could buy and experience the game. But we'll see soon enough anway, won't we?
Sweet! I can't wait! I remember loving this game back in 2001 or 2002. I can't believe that its been that long.
I know, but I was trying to say that there has to be a reason for why it is so cheap. Why is an older game (Chinatown Wars) more expensive at launch than what GTA 3 will be? There has to be a reason. I'm assuming that GTA 3 is better than GTA: Chinatown Wars, but why is GTA 3 cheaper than Chinatown Wars?
Hmmm, maybe just stop wondering why its only $4.99 and just be happy. Not trying to be mean youre just thinking too much about this.
I think becouse GTA3 originally was released 10 years ago. In 2005 pc disc cost less than 10$. And GTACTW made for ds a few years ago.
GTA:CW is 8 years newer than GTA III, lol. GTA III is before Vice City and San Andreas. In any case, I'm very excited to have it on my iPod.

Porting probably took a couple of programmers a month or two. Selling it a $4.99 will make a healthy profit, along with interest in more GTA tites, and pushes them up the charts.
