Is it any chance that GTA III would come out tomorrow in NZ? Since on 22 October is the 10th year anniversary.
Wouldnt it be awesome if they released an update or different app that has GTA 3 multiplayer? Not gonna happen but would be awesome.

Yes, IGN is wrong. GTA 3 was released on 22 October 2001. November has nothing to do with GTA 3. So how they decided the anniversary was then is beyond me.

During Comic Con new graphical assets were still coming in. If the game was in late beta and good to go there shouldn't be this type of rush. And given they need to allocate several days for the app review process, to launch on October 22, the Comic Con version would have basically had to be the one they submit, but that hardly seems like the final version. It wouldn't be a good thing to do a rushed release just to accurately mark the anniversary date, so I hope they release it when it's ready.
Well I doubt they'd wait too long after the anniversary otherwise it's not an anniversary edition - it's just regular GTAIII ported to iPhone.
Slightly off topic, but GTA V has been officially teased by Rockstar with a trailer coming next week. Seeing every GTA generation has a portable/mobile spin-off, GTA V will no doubt get one too. However, with GTA V not expected to be released until Holiday 2012, we won't likely see a new, original portable GTA game until 2013. I guess we'll have to put up with ports of classic GTA games to iOS until then.
But isn't that kind of obvious? You're asking for a GTA V spin off for a mobile? Isn't that a little ambitious? Also, you make it sound like it's a bad thing with "having to put up with classic GTA games". They're some of the best games of all time
Are you kidding me? Gta 3 isn't even on ios and the discussions are still going and you are talking about a gta 5(which got teased TODAY) port for ios?
As I said it's off topic from GTA III, and I'm only bringing it up as information of the latest developments in the GTA franchise. And I'm not talking about a GTA V port for iOS, but a dedicated mobile/portable GTA game in the vein of Chinatown Wars. Existing GTA games are the best open world game on consoles and it's great they are coming to iOS, but I'm still looking forward to a GTA game built from the ground up to be the best mobile/portable open world game.

I saw on IGN (I believe) the release is set for the 30th; however there is no official release from R*. Really don't know what to believe... I just want to play NOW! lol I haven't wanted an old port in a LOOOOONG time, but this game stands the test of time... Even if the controls will take some getting used to.
