Looks better then the original if you ask me. Dont forget, this did come out 10 years ago. I can still remember the first time i see this around a friends house, it was a huge leap in terms of gameplay and graphics. Looking forward to playing this on the 4s
That was the first thing I thought - where the hell are all the cars and people? I@m sure Liberty City is more alive than that..
I don't see a problem with people density. At the 30-40 second mark of the Part II iPad 2 gameplay video when he's running down the street there are plenty of people. Eight people around 38 seconds. The cars do sometimes seen a bit off. However, I remember GTA III being finicky when it switches it's cycles, such as between afternoon and evening. There are occasional lulls in the spawn pattern. I think we'll need a lot more footage at different areas in the city, different times of day, different weather conditions to really see if the iPad 2 is systemically worse in terms of pedestrian and vehicle density or whether it just standard variation you'd expect in a realistic city.
I think Vice city can be easily run on these devices because if I remember correctly, then they changed their tech after GTA 3 to not render the objects that were offscreen as was noticed in Vice City, as cars suddenly disappeared when out of view. I clearly remember GTA 3 running worse on my old PC than Vice City.
That's true. GTA III did have a very inefficient engine because it calculated and rendered everything around the player whether its in the field of view or not. I remember Vice City running better than GTA III as well. However, I wouldn't say Vice City would easily run on iDevices. Most of the efficiencies were put to use by making a bigger world with more detail, more car and pedestrian variety, better lighting effects, etc. The performance difference between Vice City and GTA III on PC, may also be mostly PC specific more based on Rockstar having experience under their belt when they ported Vice City from console to PC compared to GTA III. Certainly, the PS2 didn't seem any less stressed by Vice City compared to GTA III. The XBox versions with all their added effects are probably also pushing the hardware hard for both GTA III and Vice City.
To the people who KEEP saying the streets are bare, it is 12:00am - how many people in real life walk the streets then!? GTAIII has a real-time population, so at a more holy hour of the day there will be more people.
You're right but my old Q6600 with 4GB of RAM ran PS2 with no lag at all. But your statement is right. From what I've read the emulator needs 10x more power than the original. Maybe less if it's optimized right. If Vice City and SA follow this, then it will be just amazing.
So does anyone reckon that after this is released, Rockstar will work on porting Vice City? ... And then finally San Andreas? Do you think it's likely? I hope so!
I hope too but that doesn't seem likely. It all depends on alot of factors-gta 3 sales, profits, reviews, control issues (mostly on iphone and ipod),customer feedback, whether they can optimize to run VC on older devices and not talking about the size of SA-almost 5gigs on PC.So we might get VC,but sadly SA isnt that likely.Damn, now I want to play San Andreas again!
I kind of doubt it. But then again I never expected GTA 3 to come to iOS. Anway I would love to see Vice City come to iOS or on console as a HD remake. Vice City = best GTA game ever
Maybe they could bring Vice City out on the existing A5 but maybe San Andreas will have to be put on hold until the processors get better and RAM increases. Like someone said before, Vice City runs smoother than GTA III does, because of the more efficient engine.
Imagine how hard it's going to be to get to 100% completion using touchscreen controls.. Getting to Level 12 of the ambulance missions. And the checkpoint missions in Shoreside Vale using the patriot.
I really hope they get rid of the awful motion-blur effect that can be seen in the trailer, that was/is the worst part of GTAIII for me personally.
How they gonna translate those contrlos to touch screen? It was very hard in places on ps2 pad.Its gonna be a mess, very frustrating mess. Some iphones gonna get broken.haha hope Im wrong
