exactly. when everyone first started playing classic iphone everyone expected quests. what kind of mmorpg does'nt have quests? instead of quests all were getting are stupid customizations. i mean if your gonna charge us money for stuff at least make it something thats fun. like for example classic PC just came out with an awesome card game. something like this would give greedy little Stefan his money since players will want to buy cards, and it would be fun for the players.

i mean the amount of hats that are coming in is ridiculous. Admins can no longer make the argument of "why are people complaining about optional customizations?" we can complain because all these "optional customizations" are the only things your giving us.

and btw i love your ideas. those small things could really improve the game, and make the lives of players much easier. but i think its time for us to get more. quests, new weapons, upgrades, something like playing cards. bomber, you should go check out classic pc. you could learn a thing or two from them.

If you're looking for quests/levels, etc, you should wait for zodiac iphone. Its already been stated that they don't want to change the game style of classic iphone from the way it is, a social game. That would be like wall mart selling airplanes, and ditching out the clothes section because they thought flying around in airplanes would be cool and fun. They would be betraying the standards they already set for the players that bought and invested a crap load of time in the original version.

BTW.... howve you been man XD?

first of all i dont really like the zod quests theres no real story to them. second of all i doubt that bomber will will want quests in there.

second of all dont you think if something is bad, then they should change it? classic iphone can be a perfectly good social game without the entire basis of the game being based on buying customizations. you could do co-op quests, enhancing the social experience, new weapons would bring a new twist to pking, a new way of earning money will make the tons of customizations out easier to buy.

and ummm i dont know if youve been talking to people around graal lately but they're kind of tired of non stop heads, hats, and bodies. its not like were just gonna take away all their customizations and items im saying we add stuff that actually has a point to it and enhances the game.

and ive been pretty good thanks lol

Be sure to add a button that makes you a taco. It shouldn't take too much. Just a bit of scripting and a few million dollars.

I haven't played graal in over 3 weeks, so I haven't gotten the memo. Yeah I understand that, but its been a year and a half since its release and the last real gameplay update was capture the flag, and no one uses that anymore. Notice how none of these real gameplay updates: (Capture the flag, Forts, Houses, Guilds, etc) actually impact the social chatroom game it really is. The concept they are trying to take is a social chatroom game, and adding things like quests would make it a completley different game, and Stefan already said he didnt want to do that.

    I want a hammer.
The one from original classic where it flattens people and slows them, and also has the ability to smash pegs.
Then make some secret areas/shops with some minigames/items that you can only get by smashing down the pegs with the hammer.

to me the reason why no one uses ctf is because they put it in the worst possible spot. if they got rid of one building which no one really uses in graal city like that house thats to the right of the nightclub, and put ctf there itd still get tons of attention. when people are bored and are walking around graal city and see ctf theyll think to go and see whos playing. and i hope your kidding me by saying the guilds and houses dont affect the chat room. people have house parties a lot, and play games there and hang out there, and in guilds well have you ever been in a guild? guild chat is basically a huge chatroom where you can talk with your friends and make new friends that are in your guild. plus guilds brought people together by having them fight together. a perfect example of that is forts. guilds and houses were some of the best updates this game has seen. and yes while adding quests would make it a completely different game it would make it a better game. you said you understood when i said if something is bad shouldnt you change it but yet your still saying we should keep the game the same.

    Game Impressions

--History lesson wall of text, skip to bottom to read about the actual app--

Didn't read the thread, but I used to play graal classic (or zelda online/graal the adventure as it was called early on) many years ago. The first years were really fun, with thousands of players always being on, and all the areas and content of the game was created and sent in by players, with an enormous world to explore.

Later on the game went pay to play, which killed off the playerbase to like 40 players being online regularly instead.

Naturally they couldn't use player-made content anymore and remade the entire game, created by developers instead. Although there were few players, there was a lot of content to do the years before the game died. It felt like playing zelda online with your friends and solving puzzles and dungeons together, completely different gameplay from all the rpg "grind 100 boars" online games.

However someone got the bright idea to remove all of that content, in order to add "security upgrades" to the game. It would have been easy for the devs to convert all of the game to still work with the upgrades. 90% of it still worked just by adding 1 line of code to the top of the scripts. But instead they removed all content, and in 7 years have created nothing new.

After this, most of the remaining players were bored 11-14 year old elitists which spent their time harrassing new players to make them quit, going as far as to pretend to want to join their guild, and after getting to an officer position deleting all members from the guild. Needless to say, the game was dead.

    ---------

The iPhone/iPad remake of the game feels a bit like the beginning of the game, with thousands of players always being on and there always being fun things to do in the community, but the essence of graal has always been that the world is created by the players...

Not only does the game miss that, it has no content by developers either, and all dev time seems to go to creating enormous amounts of crazy priced novelty items, outfits and house furniture to tempt people to buy their RMT packs of money, since farming money yourself takes forever only to get a single item.

The game can still be fun just for hanging out with other people from around the world, forming guilds and fighting eachother for fun, but that's all there really is to do. Being free to play unforunately also means a large amount of the playerbase are immature kids who use the word "gay" in half of their sentences, since the amount of kids that are allowed to use the internet has vastly increased since the 90's when graal was first released. The controls are also pretty bad compared to the original game.

TL;DR - It's not worth paying for, but it's free so try it out if you want. The community is what makes the game entertaining though, so anti-social people probably won't like it.

yeah classic iphones been pretty much ruined. it used to be great. everyone was very nice, there were mostly signifigant updates, but then snowtown happened, and bomber saw he was making lots of money off the expensive hats so now its pretty much based off of buying the useless customizations. i wouldnt buy the game if your thinking about it. there are plenty of better mmos on the appstore than this.

You don't have to buy the game, it's free :p
Also Classic is pretty much how Graal started, the player created content is mostly all those free shields you can use in the game. Did I say free?
I don't understand why some people continue to complain that a game is not exactly like they would like it to be. You don't have to play it if it doesn't fit your style. And there is actually a way to make your own Graal server on the desktop version. We are introducing new Graal servers step by step so that everyone can feel home on one of the servers.

My project is pretty amazing. We haven't got a Guilds system yet but it's really nice. I was inspired by iPhone. My staff and I focus on playable content (quests). It's not on Official Graal but as I said I'll post something with pics or a video later on.

theres basically nothing to do if you dont buy it. then again theres nothing to do anyway. And i know for a fact that this is not how classic started. yes while classic started as a smaller game there were a few key differences: 1. it wasnt based on buying customizations. 2. it had quests and actual playable content. 3. the full version of the game was absolutly free. 4. it was updated with significant updates much more often. and the list goes on. and okay fine you give us free shields and swords. but yet most other servers get all the hats, heads, and bodies free too. whens the last time you gave us one of these for free? you used to before you realized you could sell them. and were not complaining that its not exactly what we want it to be were complaining because its nothing like we want it to be. all the stuff youve promised us over the ages has now been replaced by more hats and heads. we ask for change but you never give it to us. do you understand that almost everyone in graal is tired of hats by now? when classic iphone first began everyone saw it as a fun mmo that had tons of potential, so people kept playing. as they did they began making friends. those friends are the only reason they still play. sure we dont have to but we want to so we can see our friends. and yeah i guess we could make our own graal server for the small price of $60! and even then it disappears after 8 months. and it will of course take 2-3 years to actually make the server fun to play, and interesting, and thats with the help of 10 other developers. and the reward? maybe 100 people start to play on it if your lucky. and dont say "we" are. because you arent doing shit. the players make the whole server, and pay for it all. stop the lies stefan.

Graal Reborn is nice. Free server hosting. Believe me, Graal is corrupt. Bomber, you had the biggest chance ever for Graal and you wrecked it. There is only one quest in the entire game! We want quests, we know you have them. In fact if you don't have the quests then you could make new ones or I could send you the backup of Graal Classic to you.

Just for a quick reference, I found a couple of screen shots from way back around the beginning of graal. Out of all the players shown, I recognized three that are still somewhat active: Lia05, Android, and me although I play era now. Even streety, the admin taking these shots, quit. I was the noob called nomad:p Kinda shows how many people got tired of all this vanity crap and left. Around 2 in maybe 100 still play classic iphone. Bring in some quests or something, anything besides hats or heads and I'll probably come back, maybe others too.

EDIT: Didn't notice before, but I think Day still plays too. Tell me if I missed any others. Sadly, claw, who I was friends with, quit long ago.

I started out then I only recognise android and lia but I was in kurza and that was before I had my raccoon costume. I also remember day and you have to remember back then people were just making themselves and people change their costumes and names.

You all have some good points above and I have a few of my own.
Like Godzilla guy said about the ctf positioning- I think that the positioning of shops and buildings actually makes a huge difference whether the increase of lagg the isolation and non-use of buildings and the social get-togethers.

LEts first look back into the nostalgia of the social interaction in the seating area before the burgerbar. I remember whenever we were bored we would talk there (before forts and expansions). I remember Lia and Manngo especially talking with me and would quickly switch places when a noob or stranger sat down with us. I remember KFC wildly throwing bushes and me chasing and nomming on him.
Now town, I call, is laggtown. The name explains it all. A walk from say the fan to the arena would disconnect me, on average, 3 times. Yes, 3 times. I counted up to 7 times disconnected once. I was just today having a chat with Lia I can barely talk. Oh yeah she said try turning of nicknames-no help. I say first priority is fix the AFKedness and lagg in town.

Now with the attraction and unattraction of buildings. I find that I rarely go to south swamp north graal and even deadwood because, not of the travel (with horses its easy), but because I didn't need to go there.
damn gtg sorry for longish post gotta do homework lol

    edit: ahh stuff it
    Some good ideas:
Make one or two quests (dont have to be long)
Possibly about baddies coz they are super boring and annoying to fight.
More excite about things that have been boring or unpopular.
    Make unpopular areas interesting.
Ability for players to create more things.
Something super radical:: Teleports in houses or make streets or the ability to connect guild houses I dunno more customizability.
If you let me I can make bombs/horses/heads/hats/bodies and pets.
More different interesting types of furniture.
    TV has channels.
I dunno but these guys need to make NEW IDEAS instead of hats and hats. Releasing an unreleased place on map is always interesting but that is another thing that makes to place so lonely and desolate..
Main points here are when all the people online its so laggy in certain spots
And when not as many people online theres the desolate feeling where is so laggy in even smaller spots.
Make the corners of this authoritarian empire interesting even put some stupid NPC dummies there.
