Well probably cuz I've been making graal gfx since 2003. Edit: and the pic I posted makes ME look like a newb at gfx. Haha. http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/17123.htm
Nah, I'm not that good yet. Pixeljoint has the best pixel artists ever. I look there for ideas on shading. At least I have something to look up to and force myself to improve with.
I just learned how to shade properly and now I use it all the time What's the best piece you've ever done? Or are you more into smaller projects?
WHOA! That is AMAZING! I'm definately the impatient type, but I've come to understand this kind of art takes time. Using just plain pixels, nothing else, I made a little 'Quest Help Book' for the inventory, which pretty much would let you take notes, and would also save important hints etc. that an NPC gave. It's pretty simple, but I like it. Sam, I hope for you to be with me through my spriting adventures, and support me all the way. You have inspired me, and rarely do I find someone who is willing to help like you. Round of applause for you, dear.
Small projects generally. I had some really cool things on the PC in my art class but they formatted it without warning me. And healy, something that simple shouldn't use 22 shades. It doesn't look pixel at all.
Alright. So do you have an algebraic expression for the amount of shades good for the image size? I could think of something like: s=lw/5
A close-up of my current project, a green disfigured mask. So far I have used 9 or 8 colors, planning on only using them, but I still need some C+C no matter how hard I may take it.
Healy, what program are you using? The color count still seems very high. Seems like you're using a brush at not at 100% opacity.
Great to hear, I'll post the around-eye values in a bit. The hardest part is highlights and getting in depth for bulges and cracks I'll be adding. But of course, it is my first pixel work and I doubt it will be perfect. I feel like I need more dark toning around the bottom left section right now, but I'm doing the highlights first.
I use Paint.NET, and the core color is supposed to be that olive-pale green. And trust me, I'm only using 8 swatches (I triple checked.) My brush is 100% opaque, too.
wow. first off, nice man. also, would this be a mask in one of the stores if its accepted? nice work again. u always have cool stuff healy
I saw a comment earlier about it, but did they really add two new gralaats for 500 and 1000? Also just got the spartan shield. Very nice
