It sounds like people who emailed asking for the application got a reply pretty fast; did that happen with everyone? Just wondering because it seems like half my email don't get to them for whatever reason.
slim(admin) was jailed 20 times and banned for weeks at times, even months. So u definetwlt can still get it.
I just want to remind everyone of a couple things... The concept of jail in graal is not to be taken as a serious offense. Sometimes it can be, but you will more likely be banned if you do something offensive to other players. Sure, being in jail is a warning for those who disrupt the game for others in some form but don't forget that when you go to jail, you are STILL socializing. Now a thought on attitude and healy since you were kind enough drop my name I'm going to drop in yours... If you're going to be resentful, towards others, new GPs specifically, then you really need to find more important things to worry about. Just because someone has been in "jail" or "glitches" doesn't mean anything except that they were curious about something on a game they probably can't get away with in real life. If I rememer correctly healy I think we met a long time ago when you wanted me to glitch you up a cliff. That's pretty ironic. Oh and please don't drop the hack card on people. For the record I never hacked and if I did I wouldn't be ashamed to admit it. I don't recommend people doing it as it can damage your playing experience. Have some common sense and don't treat others badly or project onto others because you feel you think you deserve something. That's all I'm gonna say about that I don't like debating on the Internet. It's ridiculous, but if my integrity is being attacked I don't mind clearing that up once and for all. Some of you who know me know that I'm someone who likes to have a LOT of fun, so when I am being serious--I'm serious. Don't be immature and don't bad mouth others passive aggressively behind their back. It's not a good quality you want to have in the real world so don't go practicing it now. If you have something to say you will be respected more if you say it to them directly.
Hmmm wondering if anyone can help us: our download number dropped quite a lot, any idea on how we can increase it (for the free version)? We have tried to improve the situation with the honor points (friend referral system) but it didn't help a lot :/
Yeah people who are new to the game come in and the first thing they see is a bunch of people asking for honors. They probably feel like it's spam or something (which it kind of is). But since you implied the download number was low before this system was implemented... There might be a couple things to bear in mind... As a former electronic retail employee I know that sales this time of year are the lowest so you won't be getting people who just got their iPod going on an app frenzy. Might I suggest gathering an email list of players on graal so you can send newsletters that may communicate directly with players? Youll probably be able to intrigue players to signing up friends with some kind of reference email system. In return honor points? You know what I hate? When other mass multiplayer games for iPhone label themselves as the first or only mmorpg game for the iPhone. Maybe we can advertise graal as the biggest. Oh and also if you change the price of graalclassicplus to .99 for a day, you be shifted to the top of the list of appshopper.com and other websites with app update feeds. Exposure as long as what is in the app description is attraction. Oh and there's always the doodle jump technique. "be warned. ADDICTIVE"
Bomber how about making it so that every person is given five honor points. If that person refers five friends in x number of days using their honor points then they are rewarded with a special item. It could convince users to try to recruit friends faster to the game.
We dropped from #35 to #81 in role playing games US in one week, it's probably the impact of the other new games but we hoped to reverse that situation.
Wow...after playing this game for a longer period of time...I can see why its addicting. EDIT: Just bought the house pack, the customization pack, and the gralat pack.
A lot of people dislike the honor system... I think a decent weapon selection would help. Also, I know a TON of people who like to find secret areas.
keep seeing this thread pop up so thought it was about time i took a look through it, since i am a fan of retro and rpg, so makes sense then i seen bomber say he added an honour system with friend referrals to boost download numbers ... im afraid at that point i lost interest. hate friend spam. sorry
Currently, Graal is rated 3/5 on itunes. Most of the negative reviews are because they expect a traditional MMORPG. When they see "MMORPG" in the game description, they expect what a standard MMORPG usually entails (Leveling, trading, and items). Honestly, it's great to see something different and unique, but new players definitely don't get what they expect. So, instead of trying to fit into that category, why not advertise Graal as "A totally different (Better) experience than a standard MMORPG!" Also, the description on itunes states, "Huge community, various weapons, chatting, guilds, and houses". Yet the screenshots don't really show off the more exciting features. Most people, (Myself included) use the screenshots on itunes as a huge part in the decision to buy or not. If pictures of towers, guilds, spars, or other unique features were included in the screenshots, I think people would be more drawn into downloading. Finally, for those of you who haven't, posting a positive review on itunes couldn't hurt either
Well it's just to get people download the application, not spam forums with codes or so. If you have some nice screenshots then we can add them to the app description
Bomber, I am about 90% certain that this is to do with the lack of a quest and/or levelling system. People go into this game expecting a traditional MMO with an incentive to play, especially as this is how the game is currently being marketed. If you want the downloads to come back then you need an incentive for players to continue. Pocket God's big gimick was the regular updates and that caused a lot of success for them. Regular updates also ensure that people continue to come back to the game and therefore increase the likelihood of recommending it to their friends. The idea of levelling and/or special items would also give people an incentive to play longer and therefore be more likely to earn you referrals. I understand that you are not keen on this path but it's the best solution IMO. Also, don't make them outstandingly easy like the rat item challenge but make sure the difficulty isn't off putting. Yeah, I know that's common sense xD I hope that helped. Also, can you confirm if my GP application went through? I haven't recieved an application form yet. P.S: Remove the honor system and replace it with the system that when people make accounts they list somebody as their referrer. Award honor points accordingly.
For your information, I started posting in this thread before you. Now let's get back to topic. About less people downloading and playing, I'm going with Cheese's opinion.
Two words for getting players hooked: Multiplayer. Quests. Not the standard tired old quests like, "Bring me 5 leaves of doom and I'll give you my sock of dexterity. Now get 5 socks and I'll give you the thread of moosh, which can be sold for 6g. If you actually make real quests, as in multiple roomed dungeons with bosses and rewards, I don't think anyone will be able to resist. Nothing like that is out on the app store. If Graal was the first, I think its popularity would skyrocket But I really don't think adding leveling is a good idea. It would turn Graal into a grind-fest and totally take the focus off of it's strong point: The social aspect.
Well IMO already has dungeons...I suggest doing something totally different. Like do the dungeons but add something more to them, perhaps by killing the boss you can take their form?
