So I've been a windows user all my life but I just bought a mac book pro 13" so I don't have to carry around my 12lb HP laptop anymore! lol

I bought the magic mouse and its pretty slick but the tracking is pretty slow even with settings on fast.

What cool programs/games for mac can I download? It seems kind of boring as of now - guess I don't really know what to do with it... :D

Congrats on the purchase! You won't be disappointed with the MacBook Pro. :D

BetterTouchTool allows you to add custom gestures to the Magic Mouse as well as adjust other settings (tracking speed, tap sensitivity, etc).

You have Steam to look forward to in the games section. :)

I spose that depends on what you want to do with your computer, if you want to game either get crossover games or boot camp, but now that steam is going to be supported by macs you may not really need them. Its always fun to play around on garageband as well

There's a bunch of recommendations in this thread.

I'd also recommend configuring Exposé and your track pad to your liking. There's lots of cool options. Those two features are things I couldn't live without, and make me hate using other people's computers. Then go to Universal Settings and activate Voiceover and make your computer say funny stuff to you in robot voices. Giggity.

Thanks for the link, lots of cool programs!

How do I make safari fill the screen like fire fox?

    Thanks for that link Mew.

The link Boardumb gave has most of what you need, so just go from that. Congrats on the purchase! You're going to love your MB Pro.

    EDIT:

Nvm, the BetterTouchTool isn't compatible with my OS :(

So, since l2s just got his MB, I'm guessing BetterTouchTool won't work with his OS either. So as an alternative, I've found MagicPrefs. I haven't gotten to mess with it yet, but it does look promising & people seem to like it.

Or use CrossOver to run MW2, I think it'd work.

You can still get Peggle Nights for free by signing up to the PopCap Games Passport thing.

The green button on Mac windows doesn't behave as you would expect it to coming from Windows. Instead of maximizing the window, it adjusts it to fit all of the content in the window the best. It took me a while to get used to as well.

So to make it fill the screen, just adjust the window size manually by dragging the bottom-right corner.

What OS are you running? Yeah, MagicPrefs is a good alternative.

Unfortunately, the link for the Megaman launcher is broken :( But that MacHeist deal is the shiznit!!! Everybody should buy that, it's 7 awesome apps and 3 games for $20. Thank you for posting that, you are my hero :)

Whoa, there are some awesome things on this site too, thanks. I've got "full screen" and "new window" conveniently in my bookmark bar now, for when I don't feel like using the just as convenient keyboard shortcuts ;) I've been using Macs for a decade, and there's always still fun tricks to discover.

Congrats on your Macbook Pro! You will not regret it (having got my MBP 1 Year ago).

Are you a complete newbie to the Mac? (as in never used one before).

I believe I'm on Snow Leopard. And the Safari green + button took some getting used to for me too lol.

    Peggle Night Free! Thanks!!

Plants vs Zombies and Bejewled 2 are $20 each... lol
I guess I'll just play the iPhone version.

I love this computer so much! It's absolutely gorgeous! I thought the 13" would be too small but it's a perfect fit.

    I had the same exact thought when I bought my 13", but after having had it for a little while now, its a perfect fit. Also, looking back, I might've regretted getting the 15" because;
1] While its compact and transportable, the 13" suits my lifestyle more
2] The 15" has a big gap below the keyboard/the sides of the touchpad, which I didn't like

Glad to hear you're liking it though! Go through all the System Prefs and set it up how you like [plus you'll get accustomed to the computer] and download that nanoBundle! Its great.

Do i need antivirus/spyware software for a mac? If so which one do you recommend?

After being a PC user and never having one virus in my entire life, I finally got one this morning called AntiVirus Soft - I finally removed it with malware bytes :)
