For some reason it kept freezing my facebook page. Hopefully that's fixed with Safari 4. As for apps... GIMP is an amazing photoshop alternative... wait, you already have photoshop The only thing I use often is Anime Studio 5 Pro and GameSalad, along with Limewire. Jing's a great screen recording app if you ever need one.
After getting my MacBook, I haven't gone back to my PC (desktop or laptop). Other than the games, which I have managed to cure my addiction for (only partially since I'm addicted to iPhone games now instead), the only thing I miss is using Google Chrome as a browser. I know some people don't like it, but after using it, everything else seems like crap. I hated the PC version of Safari so when I got my Mac, I started using FireFox, which was what I used before Chrome. I haven't tried the latest build of Safari, but I've heard great things so far. Maybe if I get motivated, I'll give it a whirl. In the meantime, I hope Google gets off their ass and finishes the Mac version of Chrome. Oh, I guess I kind of miss Office (don't have the Mac version), but I think that's only because everyone and their mother uses it, and I got used to all the quirks and problems it had.
best thing about Safari is bring able to drag the tabs down so they become a seperate window, to do side-by-see comparisons! Love it! And can merge into one by dragging the URL icon in the address bar to another safari window. Safari 4 seems alot faster than the beta.
@hodapp LOL!! Yeah, I've always hated Safari for some reason. Safari 4 is a bit better but I'll stick with FireFox. @hkiphone Nice list. Thanks! iPhoto is epicly failing on me today. LOL. In "Places" it refuses to search any location!! My first Mac fail. Sigh. But I'll make sure to check out your list. Thanks! @People Talking About Handbrake - I know about it and don't care too much about. Let's keep the law outta this thread eh? @Kamazar Yeah, Gamesalad is something I've been wanting to try out (after I try out the real SDK that is). I repeat, I am not abandoning Photoshop and you guys can't make me! @pharmx Yeah I gotta install Ofice for Mac. I'm also installing X-Plane.
Yeah, the Safari benchmarks are no joke. This browser screams now, especially on OSX where so many of its components are handled at the OS level.
The battery life is pissing me off. It's like a roller coaster ride. Up down up down. It gives me different times of varying percentage.
Everyone knows the only thing you should do with your macbook when you first buy it is to pull faces on Photobooth! Hours, days, heck weeks of my life have been lost to that masterpiece of software. The first time you use is laugh-tastic fun
I'd open up Garageband, drop in an mp3 and create some ringtones for your iphone. What Ive also done is use GB to cut and remix some music as well, basically create my own version.
Just do the same thing that you did on the PC and eventually you'll realize how much better it is. Oh, and definitely find someone to iChat with because after the novelty wears off, you'll never use it

look at some porno. haha congrats on the new mac. I'm about to order one to be the heart of my home studio. I just wish they had kept the expresscard option for the 15" model.
Download Quicksilver, greatest app launcher ever. It can do amazing things. There have been a lot of great suggestions in this thread so far. I would keep a look out for Shareware bundles. They can get you some handy stuff and for a huge discount. There was a site once called coolosxapps.net that had a daily freeware app for OS X. It may or may not still be helpful. Have fun with your Mac.
I like GB better than Audacity. It's much more feature rich, though I don't use much of those features when recording.
Any good games out there? Only heard of X-Plane (installing). I was looking around for some free ones, or at least for some demos. Is there a NFS demo for Mac?
