My birthday is tomorrow and I thought I would treat myself to a PC game or two. I'm sick of first person shooters, but thought about trying Dino D-day. I basically only play online multi-player games. How are HAWX 2 and Hot Pursuit, both for the PC? I've been eying both of them since they were released, but idk if the multi-player is any good.
Hot Pursuit is fantastic and if you play your cards right you can grab it for $30 off of steam, direct2drive or Impulse. I was just playing it earlier today on PC (w/360 controller), and feel that it is really underrated. It is a fun MP experience. As for HAWX 2, I read some reviews when it came out and PC Gamer made it sound pretty awful. I'd be careful. BTW: I know you said you didn't want to play FPS, but Portal 2 is coming out in a week and a half and is likely going to be classic!
One game to last the rest of your life.. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum Edition on steam for $30 Your welcome..
Can't wait for Portal 2, the first was just brilliant. And he most likely meant FPSs in the realm of COD and such.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has a truly unique multiplayer mode. It's hard to describe, but essentially there are several different game modes, the gist of most of them being that you have a target assigned to you which you must hunt down and kill, while somebody else has been assigned to hunt and kill you. Depending on your placing you can have multiple people after you, making for some really intense chases as you try to maintain your lead. Really cool, check out some reviews and videos. Honestly, that's all I can think of for really unique non-FPS multiplayer games. I could recommend a boatload of fantastic singleplayer experiences though... <_<
The first HAWX game was pretty good, but don't go into it thinking you're getting a sim, it's arcade all the way. The sequel is basically identical with no significant improvements, so if it costs more there's no reason to waste your money.
I've actually just bought Hawx 2 a couple of days ago and so far I'm impressed. I don't normally play games like this, but I had this random urge to buy it. I've only been playing the singleplayer, and it's been great. The missions are varied, gameplay is fun, the graphics look great (especially the environments) and the take offs and landings are cool (although not the most realistic). I've been playing the free flight mode too, just cruising around the environments and trying out different planes. If you have Onlive then you can play a 30 minute free trial of the game, I didn't check steam but there might be a demo there as well.
