Hi I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on headphones for about 50-80$. I mostly listen to classic rock.
Are you looking for headphones, or IEMS (In Ear Monitors)? If you're looking for headphones, open ear or closed headphones.
A friend just got the Sennheiser digital wireless headphones, and let me tell you they sound unbelievable. They also have a sweet charging station and come in an open-air design if that's your preference. For in-ears look at Shure. They make medical grade gear. Otherwise for traditional wired phones go for a set of studio monitors and stay way from Bose, Monster or other overpriced consumer brands. Stick with Grado, AKG, Sennheiser, etc.
http://www.consumersearch.com/headphones/grado-sr60i http://www.consumersearch.com/headphones/sennheiser-px-100-ii One is 80 one is 70. They both have a bit of sound leakage, but excellent sound quality, comfort, and durability make up for that. One is a Grado and one is a Sennheiser, so they are well reputed brands
Best place to check out all types of headphones, in ear, amps, etc is a place called Headroom - their web site is www.headphone.com They recommend the Grado SR 60i at $80 as some phenomenal headphones, or the in ear Entymotic MC5 also at $80. But you can find stuff from a couple dollars to 2000... They have their own reviews, user reviews, and you can even buy the stuff from them - and their prices are actually competitive - although I usually use Amazon since I get free shipping and no tax...
How do digital wireless headphones work exactly? How do you set it up so that it connects to your iPod?
I've got 50$ Phillips in ear headphones and they are suprisingly good. Sound quality is the same as, for example, Beats by Dr.Dre (very expensive things).
Get Sony blutooth headphones. They go round the back of the neck so don't mess up your hair! And they fold up neatly to put in pocket. Battery life is very reasonable and sound quality is excellent. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DR-Bluetooth-Headphones-Black/dp/B000RZEK4K/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
I like my Skullcandy Full Metal Jackets. Deep, rich bass and crystal clear treble (if your listening to lossless). They run around $75 and I think they're among the best for the price range. They make those 2009 Beatles remasters really sing.
Thanks for all the help guys, I was looking at these http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sennheiser-hd-205-ii.php http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666169326 can anyone tell me if either of them are any good and if not what ones are better for around the same price
You'll probably wanna go Sennheiser. I have a 6 year old pair of PX-200s (~$60) that still tick... that's the quality you're working with. They're a great stepping stone before intense audiophile-range headphones. I can't personally vouch for the HD-205-IIs, but I doubt you'd be disappointed. Headroom is also a great place to shop. If you're willing to shell out a tad more, these rock: http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sennheiser-px-200-ii.php Happy listening! PS. Grados also are nice, but I have less familiarity with 'em. My bro is more the Grado guy.
They are for at home. You plug the base station into your source (eg. your avr or iPod). The digital part means there is no quality loss during transmission from base to phones.
I recommend Creative Aurvana Live! This is what I use with my iPod Touch 4. They help isolate you from the noise around you. They are "over the ear" but not too big, and fairly light. Right now I don't see anyplace to get them cheap. I got mine on eBay for $60 shipped. Get them from Creative for $70 shipped: http://us.store.creative.com/Aurvana-Live/M/B000ZJZ7OA.htm
If you can afford it, you might prefer Grado SR80i (the newer model). They are one of the cheapest audiophile portable headphones available and they are renowned for having excellent bass. The other cheap audiophile portable headphones are Sennheiser HD555. I have these too. They sound great but I don't recommend them for use with an iPod because they are too big and the connector is gigantic. They are wonderful PC headphones, because they completely enclose your ears, and the sound is amazing.
You can look up user reviews on Amazon for any of these recommendations that you are getting here. Don't forget , you have to get portable headphones, because that means they don't need an amplifier.
Did I say that? I like my FMJs for the price and they're within the OPs range. Who lit the fuse on your tampon?
