So my brother received a 3GS for $50 from my dad's co-worker, it's in top condition and it has iOS 4 and it's quite nice. My dad has another co-worker offering the same deal to me, but, I don't know if it's worth it, or just waiting for the new iPod Touch in September. I know the prices will be different, but after hearing that iOS 4 really is meant for iPhone 4, I hope it works the same on iPod Touch 4.

Sooo, $50 3GS now (it's only like 3 months old)
    Or a $300-$400 IPT 4 in September

    And yes, I know $50 for a 3GS is a good deal

If you choose IPT, get me the 3gs and I'll pay you. >.<
Anyway, both are good, but I prefer IPT - there were too many upgrades from 3gs to 4 in iPhone, so probably IPT will get 'em too.

Not gonna use it as a phone? Go with the iPod, then.

What about contracts? Have they expired?

I don't have AT&T, and he is upgrading to the iPhone 4, so I don't care really...

Well you should, cuz if the phone's contract hasn't expired you'll have to pay the bill.

Um, won't AT&T simply deactivate his old iPhone 3GS when they activate the new iPhone 4? iPhone owners who are upgrading to the iPhone 4 are not forced to pay for two iPhone contracts going forward. The old ones are simply deactivated.

I'm not sure if it was solely the first gen iPhone that did this, but I remember reading that once you end your contract with AT&T, your phone turns into a brick only good for emergency calls. I'm not sure how this works when you jailbreak for T-Mobile, but just what I heard.

Anyway you'd pay the $50 for the 3GS, and then sell it to me for $50?

Ahah I kinda want to buy it just for the sake of buying such a good deal! But it wouldn't be worth trying to keep all my saves and everything from device to device to device. I could sell it for nice money on eBay :)

I got mine for 35$ bucks from a friend, only two weeks old. Brand new. He needed 35 more dollars to get the 3G iTouch. Great on my end, bad on his.

When I get my money :D ahaha

I know it's a good deal, but I'm going to get an iPod Touch 4 because my ipod is cracked and the battery lasts 2 hours...so yeah, is it worth just restarting everything....twice?

I could buy it, then sell it for more though, right?

BTW- its 3 months old, so it's top-notch quality
