Not a game I would expect from Nimblebit. Doesn't feel very polished in mechanics or presentation. Comes off more like a flash game I would have played 5 years ago than the next big thing from them.
It's got some quirky bugs. I've hit the ball at an angled wall on numerous occasions and the ball bounced straight back when it should have deflected.
The ads that play when you want to retry a hole are incredibly jarring. I'm sitting here in my dimly lit, quiet living room. My wife and daughter are asleep upstairs. I'm enjoying some minimal, beautiful, near-silent golfing. Next thing you know, someone is shouting at me about dragon coins in a heavily compressed fullscreen video advertisement. I'm baffled by why I can't spend a few dollars to get rid of these advertisements. They don't fit the ambiance of the game at all
Golfinity feels more like conceptual art than a game. It seems to indicht the tendencies of free-to-play games by withholding the option of players paying money to right wrongs or speed things along, forcing them to watch ads (i.e. waste time instead), which suggests that time has, in fact, become just as important as money, if not more so. Furthermore, if you need to delete/reinstall the app to best your last score, especially considering the fact that the supposedly infinite game does not, near as I can tell, reset, how is that going to feel? Are you cheating? Why are you even playing? Does entertainment not count if you aren't competing with someone else? I suppose I may be reading way too much into what could be a design flaw, but I dunno - I kind of like the idea of leisure becoming exponentially more challenging. It's entirely possible that Golfinity will wind up being a beautiful failure, but hats off to Nimblebit for so often going outside of their comfort zone.
I love it. I love desert golfing and I love this. I'll keep them next to each other on my phone. Please allow us to spend some cash to disable ads. At least replace the video ads with regular pop up ads w/out video. Or put banner ads instead. Make video ads more rare. Something! Saying that you wouldn't want people to see the iap text next to your game's name is a poor excuse. I could understand this reasoning if it was a paid game, but its free...
I don't understand all the complaints. It's called golfinity, an intifinite game of golf. ONE infinite game of golf. And just like in a game of golf, you can always bring your par back down. Will it be difficult, yes, but you didn't pay for it, nor will you ever pay for anything in it. It's meant as a fun little game to whip out and try to have as low a par as possible, or if you made the mistake of being 100 over par, to spend the rest of your life bringing it down.lol I've been playing for a little while now and it's definitely fun, but remember NimbleBit is rarely about depth, their niche has always been fun games that you can play for bits at a time, or extended periods. I guess I'm just confused as to why people are hating on this so bad, I say keep it up NimbleBit!
Golf is based on your score after 18 holes. This version makes scoring meaningless. Why would I even bother watching a video to replay a hole? Or pay to not have to watch a video? My individual hole scores are pointless and forgotten when I'm on hole 318. Flawed concept.
Same with most rogue likes, your individual runs mean nothing, and in some even the collective run means nothing...it's a game, you're not going to win any awards for doing well either way.
Nice game. Wish there was a way to look around the course. It's annoying when you get on a platform with an invisible dropstraight ahead of you, or when you end up on a platform beneath another and youncan't see the edges. I'd also like to be able to cancel a shot. I regularly find I've put my hand down a bit too near the edge and can't get enough power on my shot.
Yeah i'm a bit surprised as i thought you could rotate the screen (Sure in the video it showed you could do that ?), a few times i've gone to rotate it and then the balls flown off. Didnt realise you could 'fall' off the screen as well, a few times the balls gone flying into space !
I'm a big NimleBit fan, but this one is just not my cup of tea. I liked the style of the game but was struggling a bit with the controls and the overall "sluggishness". The ad mechanism isn't cool either. Deleted it after playing a dozen holes.
Nice game but I feel the scoring system is flawed. If you keep watching ads, then you can keep your score high. Leaderboards become meaningless. You can just keep doing every course over and over, unlike Desert Golfing where you have to live with your course performance. You're essentially "buying" your high score, like using gems for replays in Temple Run. Temple Run solves this by having two leaderboards, one for a pure run without replays and one with replays. I don't see how that can be done in this game unless you have two game modes, the default and a pure one without do-overs. But that means you won't be showing ads in the latter, which means the devs don't get to make any money. Maybe the pure mode can be unlocked by an IAP?
I was really looking forward to this but I'm not impressed. It doesn't work as a high score game because of the ads and I don't like the fact that you sometimes can't see the whole course so you can't even plan shots out. I'm not going to delete it yet I'll give it another go later but so far I'm disappointed.
Yes, but you can't rotate it so you can't see hidden parts of the course or invisible vertical drops. Maybe you haven't got to these yet.
Uninstalled. Kinda really really boring.... Sorry guys. It's the same thing over and over and over. No stronger clubs? No ball upgrades just whack the ball towards the hole. Heck if your into those minigolf games you will love it I suppose simply cause it's infinite and has tons of dif levels. But me personally? I am outski! Sorry . Edit: oh one thing that did immediately make me take notice.... Them ads. Lol. A dollar or two goes a long way to get rid of such things! Haha
