Restart your comp, and when you open iTunes again it will ask you to restore again, and it should work. This error happens to me literally EVERY TIME I update. And while your waiting for that,
PC at work. Am a local admin and could change plenty, but... I'm not supposed to. Right now running a sync, it's installing EVERYTHING which will take a while, but seems consistent with my last backup/restore. I'm hoping things will be well in a few hours. PS> I ended up replaying Dementia: The Ward yesterday while missing Prisoner 84 - they're both terrific games.
iPod spontaneously rebooted during sync. Was installing all apps, was in the mid T's and almost done... Gonna reboot (PC and iPod) again...
Stuck in a loop. iPod is booting with iOS4. When I plug it into iTunes it says it detected an interrupted restore, I can Cancel, Resume Restore or Delete Backup. If I choose Resume it starts resuming, then I get the "an error occured" message and then my iPod reboots. I have some apps after T, but I've already found a handful that are missing. At least The Quest made it (it stopped on Ti-something, right after Tilt To Live...) I may just say to hell with it and reinstall apps. I do still have all 32 pages, so I can't be missing much. All this work for folders. *shakes fist at Apple*
Hmm, update and failed restore cost me 41 apps. Don't care about save data for most of these, though I'm not sure if I'm so eager to start Ynth and Battle for Wesnoth over from scratch. Also the Settings app won't stay open for more than a few seconds. I saw some posts via google search about my original error, and it could be related to all the mobileprovision profiles I have on for beta testing. (Though all my beta apps made it except one.) I also tried using the iPhone Configuration Utility, but can't seem to point it at a configuration to nuke the profiles I've got in iTunes (or the backup...) Almost time to go home for today.
Oh noes! Meh, I already knew about those. No multi-tasking on 2nd gen iPod Touch anyway, duderz! Giving up for today. I think I'm gonna give up on the missing app data, make a new backup and restore the OS and that data, as things are here, but still a tad flaky. (Settings app won't stay running, and I've had it spontaneously reboot a few times.)
Actually I was thinking of this guy: 3.5 days later I'm still at it. Syncs never got past Uniwar, leaving lost data for 23 apps. This morning I brought my iPod up in Recovery Mode, restored the OS, and am now running that first sync. * fingers crossed *
