as far as looking like it was written by a five-year-old. I don't agree. Compared to many of the childish-looking games that gain popularity on this site it looks really good and if you are a developer you can see that it required a very high level of coding ability.

It is my understanding that the PC/Mac version are the full game (hopefully without Microtransactions). For nebulous reasons, they signed with DeNA to distribute their mobile port of the game. This is the result. Backers were not consulted, merely informed of the decision and told this would help the mobile game reach millions...

I suspect DeNA saw an opportunity and 22Cans sold out for a large undisclosed amount, injecting capital into the indie studio. It was an awful choice and certainly didn't do the backers justice.

I wanted a mobile version of this (as promised) so I could take my world anywhere with me. Now it seems I will have to be a God chained to my desktop if I want a full experience.

With no personal stake in the game or Moleneux, I thought I'd give this a shot. A few things of note after a couple hours of playing:

It looks great, and while it often mistakes my desired input, manipulating the land is fun.

The basic tutorial is pretty long, and only then do they spring the login crap on you. If I didn't already have a Mobage account from a while back, I would have stopped right there. While many people probably give in and sign up because they don't want to feel like they just wasted a bunch of time, I'd bet more people turn away right then and there.

Manipulating the land starts costing gems or whatever after the tutorial, so I found myself out of that currency right quick because I didn't notice. At this point, I started losing interest as the most enjoyable part (of the game, that is) was being choked off.

When you go on a journey, there doesn't seem to be a way to go back home with your builders unless you finish every stage. While on the journey, any small input mistake can ruin a stage, and when one of my guys died (leaving only nine of ten who could make it to the shrine), I lost all ten. After completing the journey, my guys got off the boat, but then they got back on, and now I can't do anything in the village because the game thinks I should go on another journey.

When I return to my village, there are these laughing things hanging around, and the game doesn't even mention it. I noticed they run away if I move the ground near them. Are they dangerous? Should I be trying to adopt them?

So that's where I'm at now. I don't want to do another journey because it's more fun making them build stuff and changing the landscape. I was hoping by this point, the game would just let me do my own thing at least for a while.

EDIT: None of my houses had icons on them indicating there were workers there, but then out of nowhere, they started popping up and I could start building again. I can't believe it costs extra god power to actually direct a builder to a location. Everything costs god power, and it looks like that's going to be what ultimately turns me away from the game. I can deal with some timers as I have too many other games to take up my time, but it's losing its appeal outside of that already.

I'm gonna give it a try - but disappointed to hear the reaction on here - had such high hopes for this. Surprised Molyneux went down this path...

Edit - the game has 5 out of 5 stars on the UK app store?! Anyway....downloading now..

    Mobage :(

Why if I assign more workers to build something the building time isn't reduced? What are those new workers doing?
Battery suffer with this game. Disappointed.

I love it on the PC, played tons of hours. I'm enjoying it mobile as well. It's a bit restricted but very enjoyable. Great game to play and relax to after work.

Yeah, it certainly doesn't offer any gameplay depth whatsoever.

Yeah that's what I thought! More builders should reduce the time otherwise what's the point? One of the many flaws in this game! But I shall persist for now.

None of the complaints I have seen here hold true for me (except that it uses a lot of battery, but that doesn't bother me since I have electricity piped into my house these days).

If the like these kinda of games, give it a shot. I like it so far (I'm at about 500 people and 20 farms progress wise)

    Spent $0.

  19. Guys, this game is awesome. Forgot the publisher. Godus, i can't even imagine i'm playing this piece of art for free. I spent 0$. But careful, there is a moment (exploration with the boat) where it's hard (i mean, the game is hard to beat) so maybe you'll need some diamonds, but you can win diamonds without spend a single buck. So go download this right now !
