Game Impressions Really disappointed with this game. The controls are sloppy, the combat is sluggish (feels like I'm underwater), fighting is tedious and boring, the boss fights are annoying, the "puzzles" are ridiculous to the point of being insulting, the framerate is pretty bad on my iPhone 5... worst of all it's just not FUN. The IAPs really aren't offensive. Seriously, everyone needs to calm down about that because the game has far bigger issues than entirely optional (and game breaking) item purchases. There is no pay-wall, there are no timers, there's nothing shady going on here even for a premium priced game. You're essentially paying for cheat codes if you want them. The graphics and sound design are nice, but it's simply not enough to carry the game. I was worried about the length, but I already uninstalled it after 2 and a half levels so that won't be an issue. But trying to excuse the length by saying you can unlock harder difficulties is pretty shameful. You can unlock harder difficulties in every game ever made, that's not a justification for a short game. Just admit that you ran out of time and/or funds to make a full game. I'll keep an eye on this one and any updates that may come around and fix some of the above mentioned issues, but at this point we're probably going to have to wait for Godfire 2 to get the game this one was meant to be.
I'd say IAPs are optional if they're not necessary to enjoy the game. With regard to IAP-only weapons specifically, I'd say that's only really an issue if there's something so unique about those weapons that you can reasonably claim to not be experiencing the whole game without having those weapons, or if the game is clearly balanced in such a way that it becomes a grind without having those weapons. So far, they seem to effectively just be cheat codes, where if you're finding the game too difficult you could pay a few bucks and get an overpowered weapon to make things easier. Since one of the main complaints I've seen about the game is that it's too easy, I really can't imagine why anyone would buy them unless they're just obsessive about having every item in the game. Edit: I just noticed that in the "other" Godfire thread, Eli mentioned that he actually bought the IAP weapons and found that they were game-breakingly overpowered, so that confirms for me that they really are just cheat codes and the game is complete without them.
Just wondering... Am I the only one who was bothered by looting items and then having to forfeit precious coins just to find out what they do and to be able to equip them?
Yeah, in principle that bothers me, though so far I've been earning plenty of coins so it doesn't seem to matter. I've played other games which didn't even sell IAP coins which did the same thing, like Torchlight on Xbox 360, and Dungeon Hunter 2 on iOS, so it's an established thing in this genre. I guess they figure it creates some excitement and tension. However I understand that when a game which sells IAP coins does it, it raises suspicions that they're trying to steer you toward buying coins.
It's been a long time since I played DH2, but I think that was before Gameloft went all IAP-happy, and didn't even have IAP. It was actually really easy to loot items and gold. I don't remember any issues with their looting system, so if that was part of it, it wasn't intrusive enough to bother me. You could also grind for gold there. But I've been racking my brain trying to think of another game that has only a limited amount of resources you can find when they're used for everything in the game. Edit: IB3 got a *lot* of flack for their battle chips being so hard to come by, so over several updates they made them much easier to earn. That's the closest comparison I could think of, but even then it was always possible to earn a little bit more. There wasn't a set amount. And the currency is more optional than coins are in Godfire.
Hmmm.... Someone give me a comparison. Say... Wild blood and this game. Gameplay, graphics, general experience... If you were to get only one, which would it be. (I've played neither)
The few things wild blood has over this would have made this an amaizing game!! Godfire is verryyy short, wild blood is very long. Graphics on both are very nice, but this obvi has the upper hand. Wild blood has more of a variety in gameplay, a very long main campaign, and different kinds of weapons. Wild blood is a great game, but I have to say again, those three things would have made godfire epic.
Is an extra 5 levels asking for too much?? I just beat Helios and can see this game being a lot longer if they add like 3-4 long chapters to go discover new weapons and 2-4 more for the main campaign.
Can't say which one is the best since I haven't bought Godfire yet, but Wild Blood is for sure a nice hack n slash game. The only things I didn't like was the lip sync, which was AWFUL, and the story, but other than that it has nice graphics and gameplay with different kinds of weapons and all that.
This game was very mediocre. The story was bland, the environments dull. And performance on my 5S were subpar. Studdering constantly . Not to mention the fact that this feels like a god of war knock off.... Honestly I thought LameLoft developed this for a moment.... Oh and the graphics blow, low res textures, no anti-aliasing or decent lighting effects... Infinity Blade III had all of these features plus more without poor frame rat. On a side note, has anyone gotten God of war chains of Olympus working on the PPSSPP emu?
Was working on older versions of ppsspp on my 5s but crashes with the latest version(Angelxwind)try 'kira' repository that might work. It's far from a tech demo,If this is a tech demo then what are IB3,rival knights and similar half assed games with repetitive combat which get old after 10 minutes of gameplay?
Yeah, the puzzles are the silliest part of the game, just a waste of time. I don't know what the devs were thinking, since I think literally only a 5 year old would find them challenging, but this obviously isn't a game for 5 year olds.
Overall I've been finding the game quite enjoyable. I'm up to the final boss in level 7, still haven't figured out how to get past her. I'm looking forward to trying the game on the next difficulty level to see how it changes. My take is that people who are very experienced with fighting games and are looking for a challenge will probably be disappointed. I'm treating it more like a fun experience, almost like an interactive action movie, than as a game that's meant to seriously challenge me. I've gotten to like the slower animations because your character moves around at realistic speeds and the animations look more life-like than in a lot of games. I like how the character takes a little while to get up to full walking speed or reverse direction, or bring up his swords to block. I like how there's a more seamless transition from cutscenes to gameplay because the character moves at a similar speed in both. Lately I've been almost exclusively playing games which are entirely skill-based, including several shooters, platformers, and twitch games. It's kind of a refreshing change to play this. Though I'll be glad if it does get more challenging on the next difficulty level.
They kind of feel tacted on, like the dev threw them in at the last minute. And they're so easy that they feel like busy work. By far my least favorite part of the game.
Oh my! I thought AppUnwrapper just made up the "make puzzles easier" perk that you can buy, but I was looking at the IAP weapon packs and that's actually in one of them! I wonder if that's just a joke on the part of the devs...
The game is very annoying, graphics is good but the game is slow and freezes sometimes on my iPhone 5s 64gb, maybe it needs more power, I'll wait to see it on iPhone 6! Puzzles are boring and combat style is very mediocre, roll and hit!
We should probably start giving them some constructive critisizm and ideas for future updates if any of us actually want this too be a great game. Who knows how it could turn out with updates.
I finished my first play through and played level 1 on hard last night, and puzzles were the same. Also enemies seemed to behave the same, they just have bigger health bars and attack power. However since my character is also powered up it didn't feel much different from my first time through level 1. So I don't know how much replay value this game will have.
