Let's not get crazy here, Godfire is far from a tech demo. It may not be the second coming of GoW, but it's hardly a tech demo.
Reading through the thread, I'd say that the people who dislike aspects of the game are mentioning exactly what they dislike. The people defending it are calling it a "masterpiece" without giving any specific reasons or just saying that the people who don't like it haven't played it. I posted a list of observations very early on, after completing normal mode. I reckon my opinion must count as I've played the game, even if I wasn't jumping up and down saying it was the best game ever. Can we at least agree on these points?: It is premium with IAPs. The IAPs, while not obstructive paywalls, allow access to items that arguably should also be unlockable through playing the game. Fighting is simplistic and repetitive. Visuals and animation are pretty good. Boss fights are slow and all follow very similar dodge/wait/hit/repeat patterns. Aphrodite lives in a Tron style area for no apparent reason. The glowing gold enemy who is introduced as the "Big Bad" has one lame fight half way through and never comes back. Levels are short and there are only 7 of them. The story is irrelevant.
For anyone still on the fence I would suggest watching the gameplay videos,Imo it's a good but repetitive game it does have a lot of things going for it graphics are good, animations are probably the best I've seen in mobile games, the combat though is far to slow paced to be fun and the controls are for no reason limiting and complex. It doesn't have the fluidity of a GOW game this I can say easily as I've played chains of Olympus on ppsspp with virtual controls it's not even close to that so don't expect anything on those terms.I would argue that GOW controls better on ppsspp than this game having a conventional analog stick and 4 button scheme. I've said it itme and time again that it would have worked incredibly as a Dark souls clone with a slower methodic combat infact I'm surprised the devs didn't go this route during the testing phase. Overall I would give it a 7/10 you can bump it to a 8/10 if you're a fan of hack and slash games.
Just finished the game. I must say that the graphics is good but I think IB3 had a better graphics. The game is too easy. Just slash, slash and slash more. Almost no combo command to execute. The finisher move is the same. I am also not sure why the hero forgot to walk or run while in combat. I think there should be another digital analog for the move instead of just rolling in a battle. Boss fights were boring. Just attack the boss when they are tired. You can finish a fight without taking damage. Still enjoyed upgrading. My score: 7/10.
Great graphics and animations (although the animations are what create the "slow" or IMO clunky play mechanics). With an MFi, this game becomes a little more enticing, but it's not worse with the virtual stick (just a matter of preference). I will say this: this game is the type that should've been first developed for an MFi (2nd analog to control a camera and take advantage of all of the shoulder and trigger buttons) and tweaked to perfection, and then implemented for touch. I honestly think that approach may have led to a more balanced and robust fighting mechanic, and lead to more development with the system. As-is, not being able to move without rolling in battle leads to more mistimed movements and hits than anything else. I'm not condemning this game...I do like what I'm playing, but I also agree with the slow gameplay, repetitive everything, and the fact that 3 swords and 3 perks are store only (IAP) items......that's a kick in the nuts....really, just a poor decision for a higher-than-average $7 price tag. I wish this game luck, because I would enjoy some refinement and more than just 2 more levels. I could make some suggestions for the devs if needed. 7.5/10 right now (.5 for some great -if somewhat lacking - visual and audio brilliance from time to time as you play). Still, I don't care to see more complaining from those who won't pay to play, and would rather jump on any negative.
Need to say just 2 think for the devs: need more tipe of enemy and need more stage/level.i give 4stars and dream more update
Applied for a refund and deleted the game. Refund issued. Just applied through problem reporting and said that it was a wrong purchase and it was refunded without having to go through a sales person. Did it all on ipad! Everytime I run out of resources I get spammed for money if I want to upgrade anything and all the good weapons locked away in IAP? Not good enough. I just wanted pay and play and not pay and be spammed continually. When I bought this it didn't indicate that it was freemium but it is in every respect. I'm not paying $8.99 for a freemium game that masquerades as a premium.
Just downloaded it and played the first level. I am unimpressed. Sure it looks pretty, but it's relatively boring and quite monotonous. Gonna play it through just to get my money's worth but it'll get deleted right after. The game takes up way too much space for the level of entertainment it provides. It also doesn't look all that great on my retina iPad mini. The graphics look scaled up for some reason.
I really want to like this game, but I bought it from all the hype, but should have waited, I regret it now. It was fun for bit, but dull, and can't buy inapps, so I expect premium game. I want to ask for refund, but don't know how.
When you get your email receipt. Click on 'report a problem' and it will take to a website where you can apply.
Agree on everything except point 1. Not sure if it counts as premium, given all the flaws you identified with it.
