I really don't see an issue. The DLC is only for impatient players, and I feel it is more rewarding without it. I love the free to play business model and I am looking forward to this and We Rule. Kind of pissed We Rule requires persistent Internet connection but whatever.
I don't see why godfinger would need a constant connection since it's not as much of a social game as we rule. At least I don't think it is. Although I still think they should have it where we can play offline and then our accounts are updated whenever we connect online. Freemium games aren't for people to sit around and play for hours at a time anyway. They are for people to play in short bursts during bus rides and such.
From what I read, no it does not. It shows no aspect of social gaming, and I think they would have mentioned it by now.
Bullshit. I got to level 56 in Eliminate without paying a cent. Well, actually, I did pay, but I did it after I stopped playing, just to support ngmoco, then deleted the game. Freemium rocks.
Agghhh I want to play this!! I watched a couple of the tutorial/promo videos, looks like you use up mana pretty quick for doing things, wondering how long it'll last before asking for a payment, or how long it'll take to 'recharge.' I'm not that worried, sounds like the game will be great for quick sessions while at work, but I'm still curious.
Depending on what you're doing it can run out quickly. The recharge rate is similar to Epic Pet Wars -- and you'll get a full recharge when you level up. --MJ
And my opinion on dlc: how the heck can they make money? I don't know anyone who has payed for power cells in eliminate... Whoa! mj is here!
In the screenshots it says "+1 mana in 8:35" which is the highest time I found, others were like 2:35, 1:02, and such. I really hope that means minutes and seconds, not hours and minutes.
Per the interview with Neil Young- TouchPets and Eliminate have 9 million downloads, on any given day 2% of the player base is buying dog food or power cells. The lowest dollar amount the App Store supports for in-app purchases is 99$... Which means after Apple's 30% cut, ngmoco could be making $125,000 per day, or potentially much more if people are spending more than a buck. In comparison, the top slot on the paid app listing amounts to anywhere between 15,000 to 30,000 downloads per day. I really wish I could figure out why more people aren't connecting the dots with all this when they post their standard rants about what a failure ngmoco is and how no one wants to play freemium games. I'm almost beginning to wonder if the people who are crying the loudest about this are just upset that they can't pirate these games, as the only way to get around the consumable DLC model ngmoco is using is flat out credit card fraud, which is massively against the law. Only, unlike software piracy, people will actually investigate and prosecute credit card fraud.
Great, ngmoco will hold it for a couple weeks then release it in Canada. We might actually get this by the end of March... Maybe. I'm so excited.
