14 more minutes for me. Already pulled the devs other game up on the AppStore to make the lookup easier.
Wow, the touch controls are tight and very responsive. Those who were skeptical, playing on 5S without issue (so iPad should def be better). These graphics are fantastic.....remind me if a lot of the RPGs on PS2 back in the day.
Love it! I'm already past the first boss and it's a very entertaining platformer. Haven't played through that many levels at once since mikey hooks, my only complaint is that the unlockable equipment Relics and decorations seem kind of pointless.
Just left a 5 star review in the Australian store which I'll echo here: Absolutely fantastic game here. A platformer with RPG elements - you can buy/unlock outfits as well as different weapons which vary in stats to grant you different abilities. Definitely something that looks and feels like it belongs on the Super Nintendo - but in a good way. Highly highly highly recommended. I would suggest a level editor for community members to build and share their own designs.
Really glad the general consensus for Goblin Sword mirrors my own opinion of the game. When you're fortunate to try something beforehand and post impressions, there's always that lingering feeling of "I hope I'm not misleading people"...so yeah.
Game Impressions Just got this and played for an hour or so and had to leave some impressions. Wow this is a great little game. The controls are razor sharp, like were talkin mikey shorts kind of good. The platforming levels are fiendishly simple yet clever and there's actually some thought to level design. Things like carefully placed enemies or traps make you learn the level to beat it. There are tons of dif enemy types and all have a pattern to learn, you can't just crash through. One guy may have a projectile and one may lunge for example. The bosses are hard and satisfying as well, very reminiscent of mega man bosses. Great little gold/gear setup that gives progression to aim for. I enjoy this more than I did swordigo, and it reminds me of that. Best buck you can spend in the App Store right now, I can't see how anyone who likes retro platformers wouldn't enjoy this.
The controls are super tight and the graphics bring me back to the good old days! Really great sense and polish on this one! For .99, you cannot afford to pick Goblin Sword up!
M, Couldn't agree more once I had sorted out the controls (had A and B to close together) I am now well into the game and what a GEM its a combo of many classic games and to think we paid $55.00 for Ghouls and Ghosts on the old Megadrive
Ha ha i TOTALLY agree. Nowadays you get a quality game for a dollar or two and still people are moaning or waiting for a price drop, or waiting for more and more levels or MFI support or game centre stuff etc. This is a quality game, hope its supported well and people buy it as we then may get a sequel/updates etc
Bro, this is easily worth 5x the asking price and such a joy to play.THANK YOU for those impressions. If anything you should have said MORE good things about Goblin Sword
I've collected all the treasure chests and gems in 31 of 48 stages as well as downed 4 of 6 bosses while on the plane. I love exploring to find all the hidden rooms and the platforming is tight. The secret stages are wickedly hard compared to the regular ones but are the best levels to demonstrate the game's finest points. Bosses are similar to Devious Dungeon's but more enjoyable with actual phases as their health bar gets smaller. The game should last you well more than a dollar's worth (I estimate completion in 6-8 hours depending on your skill at finding everything). Any platforming fan should get this!
My only gripe is that the secret areas should have a subtle something to differentiate them from normal walls. Other than that, this game is an absolute dream. I feel bad from buying this for only 69p. The devs have crafted such a gorgeous, well polished game that it almost feels like robbery for this price! Hope it does well for them.
This has lived up to the hype. Only a few levels in, but really excited to out some time into this. Controls seem spot on and loving the exploration in having to find all the secret items in a level. For an old guy this is retro platforming heaven.
