Shadow temple secret level is INSANELY hard... I gave up trying to beat it. Half the level is covered in spikes and those annoying fire totems, and what's worse enemies pretty much never drop life EVEN WITH the "increased heart drop rate" amulet. It's about as hard as the tiger temple in Captain Claw... -_-

I watched someone's walkthrough of this level, and apparently the only way to beat it is to get super lucky and have every other enemy drop a heart, because I actually got hit a lot less than the guy in the walkthrough but still can't beat it due to zero heart drops.

It is hard, but it can be completed with a little practice and patience. I found that the Triple Jump Boots worked best for my play style. Have you tried using the Phoenix that will give you an extra heart and kill's monsters? The new Demon's Wallet is really awesome for killing monsters also.

    I just HATE level 3-16

OK I've completed every levels except 3-16
I defeated all bosses, found every chests and crystals, of all levels and I know where those are hidden in 3-16 but I just can't stay alive even with 6 hearts

I indeed use the lava vest and somehow I'm able to keep all my hearts past the elevator, but it's just impossible to go past the second chest

I tried maybe a hundred times and the best I've done so far is reaching the platforms that go on and off - now I'm just so tired of this level I think I'm going to just give up and wait for the next update and hopefully new levels

Am I the only one who gave up on that little bastard ?

It's indeed tough to beat, but not impossible when I got through it before with 5 hearts. After reading your post, I fired up the game again just now and got through the 3-16 with one heart left after a few tries. If you have already beaten all the other levels in the game, completing 3-16 should be within reach. It just needs more patience, timing, and prediction to minimize damage.

I mainly use Midas Sword for the raw power and the orb attack but sometimes change it up for the chain whip for the two-hit combo and shield penetration.

    Yeah!

Thank you BUNCHES bhoylhogro !!! You restored hope and I eventually completed this level ( and the whole game! ), with one heart left. One sure thing though: I think I won't play that level again, I still hate it :)

You were absolutely right, precise timing is the key, but I also had luck by earning an extra heart and a few orbs along the way which helped a lot

    Thanks again, mate!

Congratulations! Feels good to complete all the main stages, doesn't it? :)

Sure it does :D What's puzzling me is that it took me way less tries to complete shadow temple's secret level that it did to complete this one. 3-16 is definitely the hardest of them all to me

Now the only remaining challenge is completing the timed levels in time, but I'm not that good at rushing through the enemies and traps, I guess I'll need more training - I'm always 1 second or sometimes even less too long.

I can't wait for the next update!

    Yeah I know, but even
    wearing the boots
, I'm still not fast enough, heh - I mean those challenges require precise movement and timing, and most importantly not a single hesitation - this is where I suck at :)

Yeah you'll get them eventually with practice, sooner or later. Having six hearts helps cut time tremendously.

Also, forgot to mention one or a few timed levels that needs the
    triple jump
to use short cuts. But with the other ones that uses a Shadow Cloak,
    dashing
is the better way to go.

When you are working on the time trials:

Practice, Practice, Practice and analyze your mistakes. If your time is not improving, change and try something different.

Do not take time to kill anything, jump or run through them. Every time trial can be completed like this. The only exception is if your dropping or jumping. You can attack while airborne without hurting your time.

Look for little things that might save just a fraction of a second. Over the time trial, they will add up.

Figure out which relic works best for each time trial. Your relic choices have all ready been mentioned.

If your time is not improving, look for alternate routes, There are several that have alternate routes, but only one will work for the time trial.

Time when you actually start. Some monsters and obstacle's can be avoided just by your start timing. Remember, the timer does not start until you move, but the obstacles and monsters are still moving. The location of the monsters will also change based on your start time. If you can jump a monster without landing in front of it first, you have a better chance of not getting hit.

Look for places where a single jump works better than a double or triple jump.

If you loose too many hearts due to mistakes, just start over. You will learn where and when to loose a heart and still complete the trial.

Having six hearts will make a huge difference in the earlier level time trials because they can all be completed with the hearts and relics you have acquired at that stage of the game.

    Good Luck!

I picked up a wand in 5-4 but I see it nowhere in my inventories. I also noticed someone commented on a new ("weak") wand, so I don't think I was imagining things. What gives? Where is it?

Did you complete the level after you received the wand? If not, then the wand is still in the chest and you have to get it again and complete the level to have it in your inventory. If you did complete the level, then the wand is under "weapons". If you have received all weapons from previous chapters, the the wand is located at the far top right of your listed weapons. It is called a Flame Wand.

Thanks but, yeah, I finished the level and the map shows both chests as having been found, so I have no idea what is going on. I have 2 question marks to the far right on my weapon inventory and only swords to the left of that. Must be a bug of some sort.

Edit: sorry for the confusion. The wand was actually in the next level and I now have it. And I agree that it's pretty weak. Nothing ever seems to win me over from Excalibur or the whip.

Glad you got the Wand! The Excalibur is my favorite, but a lot of the other weapons have special abilities also. If you have a really hard level, you can try the Soul Eater sword. When it is charged with an orb and you kill something, you get one heart replaced. Use the Wizards Staff with the sword, and you can get two hearts replaced from killing monsters. Another weapon, when charged, will shot a projectile and then returns to you and kills on the way back also. It is like getting double charges from an orb.

Cool. Will try these out. Thanks!. I just got the shield, which is a cool addition. But why does it say it has healing properties? Seems like it only blocks, as you would expect.

When you equip the shield, you will have a "C" button on your screen. It is above the "B" if you have not changed the locations. Press the "C" when your being attacked and the shield will appear in front of you to block the attack and you will get one life, "Heart", restored. You can get several heart's restored by using the shield multiple times until the shield breaks. You have to restart the level again to restore the shield. There are several relics that have the "C" to activate its function.

Very cool! I had been using it to block but haven't seen any hearts added yet. Thanks.

    Hey all,

I'm not an expert gamer, but am having fun with goblin sword. Though Forest Level 8 onwards is locked. I did NOT think I had to beat the first boss of the game in order to move forward. I've seen videos where that is not the case. I went through 1-7 got all the crystals and chests. I don't know why 8 is not opening. Any help?
