From what I understand the argument shouldn't be the OS and what games, ect. are coming out for Android - the issue should be the touchscreen, and until they can create a multitouch interface similar to the iPhone, I'll still consider it to be superior.

People were raving about the Nexus One, a friend of mine ended up getting it and the touch input didn't have the same snap. I don't know, there's something missing, the response is a fraction behind.

Also I choked on my coffee when I read c0re ask about a planned Android section and someone said to look at the banner at the top of the page that reads, "Keeping you in touch with the latest in iPhone gaming" LOL

So true! we don't want those inferior android devices on our superb idevice gaming site! and besides, android would actually need games to be on a gaming site lol

    :D :D :D

You probably don't know that there are quite alot of games on Android Market.

Doodle Jump, Zenonia, Asphalt, Robo Defence, Sniper vs. Sniper Online, Armored Strike Online, Speedx 3D, Baseball Superstars, Gem Miner: Dig Deeper,
PSX4Droid(PS1 Emulator), Age of Conquest: Europe, Blow Up, Winds of Steel, Wings of Fury, Retro Defence etc.. Could mention hundreds of real(no crap games) games more.

A couple of android devices are already faster (in terms of GPU and CPU) than the iPhone 4(even before the iPhone 4 release there were faster phones), and there will be many more this year. Eventually high end Android devices will be about twice as fast as the iPhone, and will be better suited for gaming. That's what's going to happen.

Android makes games on very fast phones possible for Windows developers. To make an iPhone app you have to buy/have a Mac, you're restricted to the (slower) iPhone platform, the limited user base*. Developers want to make beautiful games for as many people as possible. Almost every smartphone that's being released right now has Android, and almost every smarphone being released right now has at least a 1Ghz snapdragon processor.

*Android is just owning Apple. About 95% of the people planning to get a new phone will get a smartphone. About 85%(probably more) of these people will not go for an iPhone. About 90% of these people will buy an Android phone. Android is growing extremely fast, and will quickly overrun iOS. Why? Android is available for almost every smartphone on earth, except for the iPhone. It's also evolving faster than iOS. It's superior.

Hodapp has said several times that the site name is purposely flexible and doesn't specifically mention Apple or iPhones in any way, so that if another big enough market comes up in the touch gaming business they'd be able to incorporate that too. I guess Android just isn't popular enough yet. The slogan can easily be changed.

i found some of the said facts to not be so factual i this thread.. someone said you could only buy gameloft games from there webpage cause of the 24 hour return policy what bs.. i checked last night when my mom came to visit you can buy it from the markat place.. also people saying there are no good games.. i dunno gameloft put there popular ones on markatplace. and other popular game son the appstore have migrated over..

what it really comes down to is the markat place is a baby compared to the appstore and has some growing to do.. so like mention above.. in time i think we will see a change in the quality of the markatplace.

apple has had a head start.

True, anything can happen. I just thought it was funny because I never noticed that in the top banner.

That was me, probably didn't make my post clear enough, it's all the newest Gameloft games that can only be bought direct from them. And they have a no refund policy and if you buy a new Android device you have to buy the game again. Now there's customer service eh

The few games android do have run poorly (even on the galaxy s) and are usually striped down without video and/or other features (look at gameloft games, all videos are removed), the games that are ports from the iphone are always poor in comparison, why have an inferior copy of a game when you can get the original on the proper platform that performs how it should?

CPU and GPU means nothing if you have nothing that takes advantage of them, this is the case right now, and by the time the games have improved on android the galaxy s and evo 4 will be old specs and won't be able to run them.

This is the issue with android, the moment you buy a new android handset it is already out of date! with the iphone you know the current model will remain the current model for a good while and everything will run on it for a good 2-3 years.

Example, the HTC desire is still out now yet it struggles to run anything that requires a decent gpu, even basic games and apps run poorly, now compare that to the iphone 2g, its been out for years (3 years i think) and will still run 90% of apps and games perfectly. this is the difference and is why developers have little trust in android as a viable platform.

LOL, firstly, do you have sources to back up those statements?, didn't think so as you grabbed them from your a**.

Android superior? lmao, its far from superior! if you want customization on iphone you can legally jailbreak in 30 seconds (rooting on android is a joke), you then have far more options than you do with android, everything else on iOS is leagues ahead hence why the support and sales are there.

If android is better why is the iphone the best selling phone in history? (not including the ipod touch and ipad) why has the iphone 4 already hit 4.5 million units in under a month without even being out worldwide? why is it awarded the best smartphone by many places? why is the demand so high for iphones and so low for android models? (each model), why are ALL the developers and big players sticking with iphone and idevices? why are samsung and LG moving away from android next year?

Ohh, and something funny, when android 3 is released 90% of android owners will need a new phone as hardly any support the minimum requirements for android 3, 1gb cpu minimum, 512mb ram minimum and a 855x640 screen minimum, iphone owners can enjoy ALL future iOS updates for years without worry!

Android struggles to gain ground in many different ways while the iOS is looking down from above laughing lapping up the sales and support, you always get haters when your at the top, :D

The Evo 4G had the specs of the iPhone 4, if not better, a month before it came out.

Please list me some basic games and apps that the Desire runs poorly.
Am looking forward to your reply :)

PS the Desire only came out about five months ago, so love your "still out" tag.

The desire might have only been out for 5 months but HTC are already talking about the desire 2, the desire will be gone by the end of the year ready for the desire 2.

You really want me to list games that run poor on the desire? pretty much all of them have some sort of performance issue, compare the iphone versions of the settlers, diner dash, farm frenzy, nova etc to the HTC Desire/android versions, says it all!

Ah so you're talking about sloppy iPhone to Android conversions, I didn't realise.

If only the Desire had the same much lower screen resolution as anything apart from the iPhone 4 I guess lazy iPhone conversions would look better on it.

Yes the Galaxy S CPU and GPU combo is great, I never said it wasn't, which is why it's also better than the iPhone 4.

I own a Desire and Touch, 95%+ of my gaming is done on the Touch yes, but the Desire is great at everything bar a gaming device.

One click on a widget and my Desire is turned in to a Wifi Hotspot, this is written in to 2.2 firmware, little flexibility things like this just make you realise how much Apple want to control everything you do with your device.

a 30 seconds jailbreak for any iphone (free and legal) and you have the exact same thing, wifi hotspots, i agree it should be standard but it never will on an iphone due to deals with network providers.

This is, without a doubt, the most hilarious thing I've ever read. Did you know that 65% of all statistics are made up? (but seriously dude, if you're going to make up statistics make them at least somewhat realistic)

You must be joking dude, Android has much more to offer than a jailbroken iPhone 4. The iphone is more future proof than most phones, but I don't really care.

You're obviously an Android fanboy. If you're going to make up statistics, at least make them look real.

ok. yeah i miss understood. i just googled and saw some latest releases asulfpt 5 etc which i picked up for a buck on appstore and thought no sale for android bummer.

well after reading the thread you posted.. i see the android markat place has some issues and it maybe to late for it to keep growing..
i hope im wrong.. but people actually expect 24 hours to decide if you like a game or not. ( now the main reason from googles stand point is cause i guess not all games work on all phones.. another problem going against android. android cant control hardware development.. ) that just seems silly to me. also the iphone is gonna always be set hardware.. for the developers this has to make it more appealing to develop for.. you know this is the hardware i get to work with.. unlike other phones witch may or may not have the needed stuff to make a game work.. with iphone you know thi sis what i will get to work with.. wont be changes till next update in the phone but should be backwards compatible to some degree.. but iso4 did break a lot of software.

i honestly do not know if the adnroid will ever be a gaming platform..
as long as apple dose not kill of the ipod touch.. ill be ok with that..

if i was to get a cell phone i would want it for calls first..

but this apple fanboy crap and android fanboy crap is so annoying.. lets be realistic here.. its best, that way the hardware can grow.. i mean if people just agree with what the manufactures put out we would never get what we wanted..

I bought a couple apps from the Android Market and when I got a new phone they were still credited to my account just waiting to be downloaded. Instead of the price they said "purchased."

So that tells me you can indeed transfer some purchases from device to device using the same log in information. (Edit: this is probably only true via the market and not how gameloft has decided to sell their games)

But you can't compare gaming between android and iOS. As I have already stated, I use my two differently and am quite happy to continue on with a game on my iPod Touch while answering a call on my phone.

Talk to me again though IF Verizon ever gets an iPhone.
