It doesn't happen on my iPad Air. I've seen slight slow-downs on my ipad 2 from time to time when there's a lot going on, but nothing major.
So... I can't seem to break 500,000 points... And then I wondered, maybe what is keeping me back is playing with button controls. Maybe everyone doing better than me is playing using the default edge controls? I'm pretty sure the #1 player in world is using edge controls (from what I've read of his tweets). Maybe my insistence on using button controls is holding me back! Anyhow, even though I don't use the default controls myself (I'm just really used to onscreen buttons) it's kind of funny that most reviewers seemed to dock us a point or half a point because they disliked the default "edge" controls. If the #1 player in the world uses them, they can't be that bad. Sorry, I'm just killing time in my hotel room while on the Glorkian book tour... And playing my own game (and Foxtrot!, Monument Valley, Amber Halls, etc).
I cant even surpass 320.000 and that was while on 1.01 beta... and I cant even reach near it again. 500.000 ejem....xD As for the controls, I am so used to the DPAD option, it feels so natural for me on iOS that any other method for this kind of games feel strange to me. And I think most here agrees with me.
I'm using the virtual controls, because that's how physical controls work and I'm completely used to that. Left thumb move, right thumb jump. And it's like an analog stick for movement.
Tonight I'm having a release party for the game at BCA in Burlington, VT. As a special treat, the two unfinished early versions of the game will be available to play as well!
Well, the party was awesome! And it made me really really want to complete and release the unfinished beta versions of the game. People loved them! (But one thing at a time. We're still working on some awesome new content for Trials of Glork).
Anybody here live in Montreal? I'll be doing a Glorkian Warrior event at the Librarie Drawn & Quarterly bookstore, Saturday, April 26th 10:30 AM. The store is at 211 Bernard Ouest, in Montreal.
Sorry! Montreal is pretty close to where I live, so they have the advantage. Don't mean to rub salt in the wound, but the event did turn out awesome: http://211blog.drawnandquarterly.com/2014/05/recap-james-kochalka-launch-kids.html
Just came here to say NO to the new logo. Although the robot is cool in game, it's levels below the two main characters as icon.
I like the old icon too. But we're experimenting. We want to see if changing the icon affects sales at all. Some of the PixelJam team were afraid that the smiling happy Glorkian Warrior icon would lead people to believe it was just some little kid game. Obviously you guys that already bought the game probably thought the original icon was just fine. But now we gotta convince the guys who didn't buy it yet to give it a try.
Hope the new icon works well for you, its a really great game. I'm looking forward to the content update!
I think we'll try a new icon for each update. That's the plan, at least. In the end, I'd like to have the Glorkian Warrior himself on there. I've drawn a bunch already... It's really hard to guess what's best.
If the game were to have a 2 player feature, one player could control the aliens (gestures more than directional pad) and the other could control glorkbot. That would add a new dimension in multiplayer.
