Hi everyone, I just wanted to announce our new game called Ginkgo and the Celestial Mirror. Its a colorful 2D-platformer where the player controls Ginkgo, a tiny fantastic character. Ginkgo collects celestial crystals, pieces of the shattered Celestial Mirror which used to shield the world from all problems. He dreams to restore this protection, but he has five dangerous kingdoms to cross in order to do so. We will update this thread with new content as it is created. We hope youll like to follow the games development on our blog. CREDITS: Game design, writing: Maria Stavinski Code: Olha Rykhliuk Art: Stas Stavinski Release: End of November 2017 Model: Free-to-Play, Price TBD. No IAP or Ads. The game will run on the Unity engine. Were planning on releasing it for iOS devices first. In the first release there will be 20 bright, diverse levels, all of them created manually (they won't be procedurally generated). The levels will not be connected to each other. As the game progresses, the player will have to solve increasingly complicated puzzles at the end of each level. They will also include several small tasks to complete in order to help the character reach the next location environments. We are going to update this devlog 1-2 times per week, so we hope you will follow us!
We aim to enhance the users experience with vivid, lifelike visuals. Bright colors, warm light, natural textures, hand-painted details... We're relying on a huge number of references to get everything right. Many people have told us that the time of 2D-platformers is gone... We know we're not pioneers. But we decided to go ahead anyway and to try and create a 2D game that people will like to play. We knew we could do it thanks to our experience creating children's apps. It also gives us a chance to personally do everything from the beginning to the end, just the three of us. It not only means that we clearly know WHAT we will do and HOW we will do it, but also that we can try to complete it as quickly as possible. After all, now the deadlines depend only on ourselves. We think we can do this because there are other small teams that developed great 2D platformers that we really liked, such as Badland and Leo's Fortune. It's inspiring. Here is some samples of the references that were used to create environments for Araucaria's Forest. And one more news. We just finished our site yesterday, where you can find more info about the game.
