Today, I received a gift from the developers of catacombs and I got an email. When I clicked redeem , I was directed to https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/com.apple.jingle.app.finance.DirectAction/freeProductCodeWizard?code=46RN4WJM74LK I noticed this code at the end and decided to copy and paste it into the redeem section on my other account and t worked. So gifts are actually promo codes.
Maybe not in the same sense of the word. These are probably kept apart from codes used for promotion. Same format, but they don't leach from the 50 code limit. Thanks for letting us know, though. Lots of us were (still are) wondering
What else would it have been? Itunes music and money is all done through promo codes. Clicking the redeem button in the email opens the redemption page (both on osx and iphone), pastes the promo, and submits it. A pop up asks for your password and that's it. I really like the way it's done
I give all the people at my site gift cards constantly, but now I can just give them the app I want to give them, instead of a $10 GC.
