I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question. I am new here and I didn't see a place that this belonged to. Anyway my question is pretty simple, I tried gifting Dead Space to someone who posts on a forum I frequent and it turns out they are out of country so they were not able to accept it. I was still charged however. But more importantly, I'd really like to be able to gift them the game. Is there a way we can gift games internationaly? And also I do wonder what will happen to the gift they could not accept? I see that I was charged for it, is there something I can do to give it to someone else? Thank you!

The only way apple wants to allow you to gift games to other countries is if yo have a credit card, which is really stupid,
The reason is because of the conversion rates and whatnot.

There's a different way you can do it though, have you pr friend make an account in your countries AppStore, all they have to do is log out of their account, then click on an app that's free- any app, then it'll say "log in or create an account" select create account, and create an account as you normally would but choose the country you want. You don't need a credit card to sign up as long as you follow those steps.

Then gift that account, and it'll work.

I'd also request a refund from apple if I were you.

If your friend is confused about making the account, you can actually make the account for them and just send them the email address and password.

i think you can actually download whatever you bought an unlimited amount of times, but you are limited on how many devices you can install the game on.

I wouldn't recommend getting your friend to make seperate accounts for gifted apps, it's really not worth the effort having to switch over every time you want to download an update. The best thing I ever did regarding the App Store was ditch my US account.

Meh. I have a US account, because I won a $50 iTunes card. The account is very useful, because I can do Free my apps, and I can get movies for a lot cheaper.

If it's only 1 game it's fine..if you have like 50 games on a different account and have to constantly switch between the two, then that's annoying.but one game won't be such a hassle, logging into a different account once every 6 months really isn't that difficult..it's like 30 seconds!

Thanks for the info about being able to download it and unlimited amount of times..that's cool..I've always been a little worried about that..since apple releases a new phone and iPad each year though...the number of devices really shouldn't be restricted too much..or they should increase the limit on your account to be able to download it on an extra 2 devices per year to keep up with the new devices being released!

I'm going to be mega annoyed in like 2 devices time, probably ip5 and ipad3 and if it says "you may not install world of goo" I'm going to cut open my iPad box and rub it's flaps all over the glass apple store exterior, leaving snail trails and whatnot.

Anyways, basically there's two options- credit card or make an iTunes account. And making an extra iTunes account is so much less invasive then trying to apply for a credit card
