Hey here is our Saturday Screen Shot, showing you guys something I have been working on. Alongside some bonus weapons, we want to fill the game with fun unlockables so we are doing skins for each weapon as well. Including some of my childhood favorites, the Super Soaker 50 (any have one of those growing up?) and the Red Ryder BB Gun.
Decisions decisions! If you plan on adding more to the menu a flamethrower or crossbow could also work Either way looks like we have a lot to look forward to
haha yes! 90's was a great time to be a kid. Awesome! Should make for a fun way to unlock things that don't give you an advantage in playing, but are still fun to get. Yes! We will also probably adding more content in updates, especially if the game is getting a lot of play. We also will have skins for each unlockable weapon (the the main weapon will have the most) and each one will fit that weapon. haha yep! That is the blue and orange one you can probably see in that GIF. Changed the bullets to look like darts as well. haha does that shoot cans or actual soda? either way sounds good.
Hey everyone! Got slowed down a little bit getting things ready for the Indie Game Con that we are a part of at our Comic Con. But here is a look at a poster we made for it.
GET ME OUTTA HERE STATUS UPDATE: Hey everyone! Thought I would give an update of how things are going. I know back towards the end of summer it was looking like the Beta was nearing and that we thought we could possibly be releasing late in the Fall. Looks like I was a bit optimistic with that prediction and didn't take a few things into account. The good news is that most of the things I thought we would have done by now have come along nicely, I mainly didn't predict for smaller things that I thought would fall into place much quicker. We have also done some small rounds of alpha testing with a few people that have brought up a number of little things to address before a Beta would be ready. My desire is to get the game as close as possible to complete before Beta that way testers can focus on the important details and not have the time just be spent on obvious bugs. With that my best guess is an early 2017 beta with the release of the game following around a month after the beta (granted not huge issues come up in the beta ) I wanted to communicate this so I'm not dragging people along thinking it is right around the corner. It has been so encouraging and makes the process much more enjoyable seeing others getting behind us and looking forward to giving the game a go! Thanks everyone who have posted on the thread. I also really believe that you all will be super helpful once the beta is ready. I will keep posting updates as I have things to share. I think this forum will also be helpful for bouncing ideas off of how we will do monetization and things. The plan is for the game to be f2p but with a style that heavily favors players who prefer premium (which both my brother and I tend to prefer). I will probably seek some opinions as we flesh out how that will look. Have a good week everybody!
Hey! We had a blast at our local Comic Con which hosted the third annual Indie Game Con that we were excited to be a part of. Met other cool devs and lot of new fans! It was really encouraging to see people playing Get Me Outta Here. Most people who played loved it and were not quick to put it down, playing multiple times trying to get further in the game, a great sign indeed! We also loved seeing people's faces light up during the cutscenes or when the cow came on the screen. We had a fun high score competition that multiple people got really into and got scores that I really didn't think they would, not sure if I would have been able to beat them. Overall we are encouraged and have learned that people really enjoy Get Me Outta Here. Here are some shots from the event, we put together quick controller version of the game to make it easier to show on a monitor.
I figured out how the grape soda launcher could work. So basically it's like a barrel drum style gun like a grenade launcher and when you fire it shoots out a can of grape soda with a short purple grape soda trail behind it and when it hits an enemy the can makes a tiny burst/explosion animation (the explosion won't make a difference to gameplay it's going to be there purely for aesthetics). Let me know what you guys think about it.
Thanks! Haha. We are going to have skins for each weapon. One weapon has a grenade launcher on it, this could be a really fun idea!
Quick Update: Closing the gap on a lot of things needed to be finished. Really working hard wanting a finished beta ready for January (Don't hold me to that though ) Here is a look at some gameplay with a Wizard Staff Weapon Skin:
I've been holding it together till you get a proper beta ready for testing..... hopefully not much longer cause it looks awesome
Haha, whats out of place about a bald guy in a hospital gown battling aliens in a ship with a wizard staff? Definitely getting close now, I was a bit crazy back in the summer when I thought Beta was around the corner, but the game is much closer to complete now.
