Well now there's a nice surprise...a 3 page feature review of Gesundheit! for iPhone/iPad in "The Daily". If we get their permission I'll reprint here, but in the meantime it's free to read via their iPad app.
Hey, long time, no post, TA'ers!! I just wanted to swing by and say how awesome this game is. I've been looking for something fresh for quite some time, and this is it!
I have a problem with level 32 Falling Walls. It wont finish. I got all the starfruit and killed all the monsters but the level wont end. Its just the lonely piggy in an empty level. Any ideas?
I had the same issue same level. I skipped it and the next level did the same. Had to force quit the app and that did the trick.
+1 to the not enough room to aim well. Level should scale out to allow more accuracy. Also to help with shooting you should ignore the last split second of input as often that little flinch of trying to release cleanly screws up the aim. Look to how the text selection magnify tool works in iOS. As you move to position the cursor often times on release you will flinch off of the space you wanted but iOS ignores that last little flinch (not sure what the time variable would be) and your cursor generally ends up where you wanted it positioned. Just a thought. Great game, art, etc. really really nice. My favorite in a long time.
Has anyone yet suggested using a line-drawing mechanic to control how our little piggy friend moves around? I'm sure it would be an unfeasibly complex programming overhaul, but I keep thinking of how well it could work. Just draw the path to where you want to go and how you want to get there. If you need to redirect, touching the screen and beginning a new line would immediately void the old path and take precedence. Running away from monsters could become deviously fun, rather than as tricky as it sometimes is now. Make sense? Anyway, just fantasizing. (I do love the game, by the way. Beautifully done. ... ...as far as snot can be beautiful...)
Actually my first thought when I played this game was "I hope there is an option for line-drawing controls" I thing it would work great, maybe even better because I wouldn't walk in my own traps all the time
I like the concept of this game, but the control scheme has a lot of issues. The character repeatedly runs into the traps when I don't touch anywhere near them and anytime he's near the edge of the screen, it's virtually impossible to get him to launch snot any reasonable distance. Also, when he's in one of the pollen fields (the type where he launches himself across the map), half the time he just refuses to move where I direct him - but inexplicably when I retry and point him to the exact same spot that I just tried he randomly decides it's OK. And given that the later maps require him to launch himself across the map very quickly, it makes it an exercise in frustration rather than skill. This game could be very good, but needs a good amount of improvement in the controls department.
Out of all the games I have bought recently, this is the one the kids at church wanted to play most. As has been mentioned, the little ones love getting the pig eaten, and the big ones love splatting the snot - especially when they get the monster or pig splatted in the face or when they see the pig shoot a super big ball of snot. Surprisingly enough, some of these kids are really good at figuring out what to do on each level - of course, it may take them a while to maneuver the pig the right way to get there though.
+1 on the comments above. Bought the game a few days ago, like it tons, but the controls mak me fail at times and it feels unfair. My kids LOVED watching me launch Super Snot and paltering the monster in the face! I kept saying this wasn't the point of the game but you know how that goes ;-)
I have a problem in level 35 serving supper. I got the monster to eat all the flies and i got all the flower fruit. Then when i lure the monster in the trap, the trap wont shut! I tried rebooting my ipad and even tried different strategies but with the same result. Looks to me like you released the game a little early. I can live with the crashes and everything but bugs like these are extremely annoying. When is the fix coming?
Well I got some more info. The monster suddenly got really big after eating the flies. Then the trap DID close but the level didnt end. Just the loneley pig in the empty level again. I think im just gonna wait for the update...
That's a very nice game but it has a whole lot of bug in it. 1.) when you start a level and rapidly push the screen, the little pig gets stuck in the air and can't move. 2.) i think level 31 is broken. The fly eating monster comes to my half of the screen, while floating over the crack on the floor or with going though buildings. 3.) level 31, 32, 33 & 35 can't be finished because after killing all the monsters, the pig is still on the board and you can move him around. The game doesn't notice that you trapped all the monsters... 4.) are there any cutscenes? Because I havent seen any besides the intro... But in the extra menu there are a whole lot of locked cutscenes... Man I have 90 Stars already.... And no cutscenes yet? 5.) on some levels you don't have to drop a wall to get a star. You simply have to go as close as possible near the wall an the pig gets the star right trough it. Magical ^^ But anyway, the game is well made. sometimes frustrating but in a good way and it's all fair. Reminds me a little bit of metal gear solid. EDIT: All the mentioned Bugs are gone since the last Update. Thank You RC!
