*waves* *taps screen* *hopes you're all ok* If you're keeping up with all things Gerty on my Twitter feed thingy then you might have seen this: It's a work-in-progress gif of stumbling upon a derelict ship at one of the 'encounters' I talked about in the previous post! If you've played Air Supply at all, the ship should look familiar! I wonder what happened :O Bit tired today, so I'm gonna eat and rest a bit. Hope you're all well! QS =D
***creaks open door, breaks into a big smile, quietly closes door, goes back to work, wipe tear of joy away and silently thanks God for sheep***
Thanks! I personally kinda like that it's a 2D sprite rotating in 3D space. It looks a bit odd, but I *think* it works! Hello! I've made a fresh tea for you and everyone else! Help yourself! QS =D PS - it's bloody hot isn't it? :O
Hello all! Hope you're well and getting through this (UK) heat wave ok! I'm drinking lots of tea. Which always confuzzles people, but it opens up your pores apparently. See? I *do* know some stuff! Anyway, I'll be posting this on Twitter later for screenshotsaturday, but wanted to give you lovely lot the jump first! Here's something you might find while wandering about in space... Can anyone guess the tenuous link to a sci-fi film? Hope you have a fab weekend, and if you're in the UK, an extra long and fun bank holiday too! Toodles for now! QS =D
Another gif for you all - I've been working on the contact stuff and added in character portraits and conversation to discovering them! It looks like this at the moment: This whole part of the game is kind of 'extra', but important I think. There's a lot to it, and I'm far from finished! But when I am... The current plan is to have something playable from start to finish by September 18th. I'm meeting up with friends on that day and want to get their feedback. It's been invaluable on every other Sheepy game I've made! So the clock is ticking! Busy sheepy! Busy! *falls over* Anyway, I'll keep updating here! Hope you're all well! QS =D
Looks good! Love how Alexis looks down mid-conversation. Although the 2D spaceship rotating looks a little odd.
Thank you I'm in two minds about the 2D spaceship rotating in 3D space. I agree, it kinda looks odd, but I still kinda like it. Could all change though! Who knows? *looks in mirror* *blinks* Oh, right! I'm supposed to know... :O Well, we'll see how things develop! Just wanted to keep everyone abreast of the situation! Thanks for looking! QS =D
Hellos! I've been experimenting with how to give some of the planets a bit more life. Here's the result of one such experiment: That 'beam' that goes across the planet is a UV texture. Right now I can only use one, but I'm hoping to be able to swap it out to simulate clouds or a shield or teabags or something Again, there's the odd mix of 2D/3D - the planet itself is a flat 2D image but the UV texture is actually moving across a 3D sphere. I need to get back to actually working on characters to meet my self-imposed sept 18th deadline for an early playable demo for my friends/testers. But I will get back to this at some point, probably during the 'polish' phase! Have a great weekend everyone, thanks for reading, and enjoy the extra day off if you're in the US QS =D
I think the 2D/3D mix will look really cool as long as it appears consistently. If it's really rare, it will be jarring, but if it shows up frequently, it will look like a design choice. Can't wait to play this one day!
The beam looks good - definitely not as jarring as that 2D rocket rotating around. I agree with Jerutix - if you do this with lots of elements, it will appear normal. Also: you need to include a planet where there is banjo music playing and all the robots are nervous wrecks, hiding from girls...
Thank you both for your thoughts! The nice thing is I can experiment with it and get different opinions (such as yours) and try and work out what works. Currently it happens very rarely, so the opposite of what you both suggest! :O It's no hassle to have the ship 'not' rotating, but I kinda like. I will experiment and see what happens! Thanks for your comments though! NO BANJO MUSIC!!! (sorry!) QS =D
Perhaps 'floating' forward backward with a bit less rotation would be cool. No problemo, I was making a joke that probably no one would get anyways...
Hey all! Not much new this weekend, but here's a shot I put up for screenshotsaturday on Twitter for you! I do so love taking off from a moon with the Virtual Boy look QS =D
Hello lovelies! I've not forgotten you all, I've just been very, very busy! First up, let's have a new work-in-progress screenshot of the cargo bay: R-Tea-Facts (DID YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE???) will be the main collectable in the game, that will unlock colours for you! Quite right too! You'll be able to get them in a variety of ways just by playing, and hopefully they'll add something cool to the game! In other news, I finally got round to setting up the Steam page for the game, which you can find here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/516360 I know it has little to do with mobile gaming, but it's another little bit of Sheepy progress! Anyway, hope you're having a fab weekend! I am working still. And drinking tea. As always! Speak soon! QS =D
Some good news and some bad news! :O Hey all, hope you've been well. You all smell rather nice so I'm assuming you're all ok! I just thought I'd give a little update here! There's good news and bad news! Firstly the bad news! /o\ I've decided to delay Gerty till next year. It's a shame, I know, but I just want it to be as good as it can be, y'know? I hope it'll be worth the wait! And sorry! The good news is, I've finished something else that you can play RIGHT NOW (but not on iOS - again, sorry!) It's called Main Course - Director's Cut, and you can find it here: main-course As soon as I realised I wouldn't get Gerty done this year, I kinda panicked and really wanted to release something. I've been working on Main Course for a couple of years now on and off and finally set aside a couple of weeks to finish it and get it out there. It's a text adventure. It's very short. You can download it to your PC or Mac, or just play it in the browser (but not mobile browsers - I checked!). I hope you'll enjoy it. It's totally free, so have at it! Right! Back to finishing Gerty! Be well, apologies again, and have a fab Halloween weekend! *sheepyhugs* QS =D
Well double disappointment just happened My phone is everything so i cant play this text game at all. ... so ill have to wait i guess. Oh well
