The new robot mode isn't actually too similar to the cube, gameplay wise at least. While the cube only jumps a fixed height, the robot can jump at least 3 times that height. The controls are completely different, too: You tap longer to jump higher. The design surprised me a little, but only because it was totally different than what I expected. It isn't anything similar to the cube. And also, RobTop only gets inspiration from the other games, he doesn't " combine it into one big mess". Was the mini-portal inspired from another game? No. Dual Portal? No. I rest my case.
QUESTION TIME(For anyone who wants to answer) How many demon levels have you beaten? I've beaten 124!!!
100% 1029 attempts-104 friends, 26 practice (kill myself at 20 so I don't spoil it) 1029-104=905 905-26=879 total normal mode attempts. 683 were 1-26% 879-683=196
Guys, why isn't RobTop active on the other forum more often? He needs to be online there more. Also, why doesn't he follow anyone, not even Darnoc?
No one is on his level And I hope that after 2.0 geometry dash is still geometry dash; I mean I like the new art, but the core game might be fading away :/
RobTop himself said yesterday, when you weren't online, that the new Mario background and ground isn't going to be a permanent addition to the game, it was just used to mix things up and keep things fresh. I mean, remember Electroman Adventures? It barely looked like Geometry Dash at all. Instead it was something from a retro video game . Still, though, I noticed that the game relies on music less so than before; It used to be an essential part of the game, now it's just there for the sake of having music in the game. :/
I still want the big portal and wave compatible blocks, though, even if it makes the level so de-synced with the music that it already ends when the level starts. Just kidding, but I won't stop talking about these until at least one of them are in the game... Maybe in 2.1?
Not really, the music is the most important part of the game. And maybe for the future Robtop can do theme updates, where he adds features from a particular game/franchise. It's kind of like the Mario Kart DLC's, we got a Link pack and an Animal Crossing pack.
Maybe, but those theme updates work better for Mario Kart than Geometry Dash, because Mario Kart constantly switches between themes each track. In my opinion, if we keep on changing the themes in Geometry Dash, it will get confusing really quickly. It might happen, though; There will eventually be a time when RobTop runs out of ideas, and relies solely on the community for ideas regarding updates. It won't happen for a long time, though, not until 3.5 at least.
That'll be the absolute last thing he will add He'll only add it when he runs out of better ideas.. And anything is better than the big portal! Will Robtop even support the game that long? I think he'll stop when the game loses it's steam and drops from the top charts.. At the rate he updates the game now, the last update might be 3.0..
Robtop said he never plans on stopping to update the game, however death could change that.(If he's not immortal, which he probably is.) Now regarding the Mario and the new art style I personally love it. It's just a 1 level motif anyway. Also what do you mean the core game is changing?
I thought I convinced you that the big portal isn't as bad as it seems... I guess you changed your mind. In all seriousness, though, RobTop said that " he might take a look at it", which means RobTop might even experiment with it in update 2.1 ( you never know, he said there will be a lot of craziness in 2.1 ). The wave compatible blocks are much more unlikely than the big portal to be added in the game, in my opinion, because they are hard to distinguish from normal blocks. My theory is that the big portal will be added in update 2.3 or so while the wave compatible blocks might be added in update 2.5. Also, RobTop said before that as long as players play the game, there will be updates. I think you're right, though, it's basically code for, " As long as the game is popular and trending, I will indefinitely support the game". My guess is that the game will last to at least 3.5, and then the rest is based off of how much players like the game. Speaking of which, what would you do if RobTop stopped supporting the game? Wait a minute, what do you mean by " When the game loses it's Steam"?
I think what he means is that Geometry Dash is getting more complicated, and is starting to drift away from the platformer it originally was. I don't entirely agree with this, since the game will have to evolve a little in order to accommodate all the new game modes/mechanics that will be in future updates. However, some things in the game are changing, but I don't think they are bad changes.
I don't see that problem at all, it's just becoming harder. However I do see how as more gets added it's going to be harder to incorporate mechanics in to levels. So there could be a main level without a wave section.
Look at how much the game has evolved since 1.0.. Back then it was pretty much another Impossible Game copy; but with the new updates it's not really the same game anymore.. I remember playing the demo levels and then watching a video of Electrodynamix.. I thought it was another game completely :O
I know... The Dual and Mirror portals have disappeared almost entirely from the main levels. I'm not complaining, though, both weren't really necessary for the game. The mirror portals give you a headache, and the Dual Portals are annoying. Some game modes will have to be scrapped from levels to accommodate the amount of growing ones. I'm not complaining, though, I'm still waiting for the magical big portal that will let me make " Big Clutterfunk". I know exactly what you mean. I actually liked the 1.6/1.7 levels better, since they were hard while also being more pleasant to play in general. Now, though, the only things creators do is abuse the colour channels and make the world's most annoying, flashy levels. Why can't people make nice, easy levels that aren't too flashy? Cosmic Dreamer is okay, but all the others are seriously annoying.
