I was thinking about an idea : why not adding custom background and ground ? like you did for the music, we could take a bg on newgrounds and download it before we play the level, and same for the ground !
or if u can't, maybe we can put multiple colors at once on a backgroud ?
and i'm happy for "over 9000 col" it will be awsome !

Maybe you could have a background which has two tones, like orange fading to yellow, or white fading to black.

About the custom backgrounds:
I agree, but it would cost a lot of data and if you didn't want to waste it what would you do then? Not play the level?
