Okay, one long post just isn't enough. Here's an idea I posted on Darnoc's forum, I am posting it here so that RobTop can view it for himself, (I'm actually quite proud of it, and myself, along with several others feel like this would be a useful addition) Copy/Pasta: My Ideas: Okay, let's set the scene here: You've made a beautiful level with wonderful custom music, but the music is longer than the level. Because of you're perfect nature, you are forced to set the song to end perfectly at a set point, so you use the fade out option with the custom song. But it isn't perfect, it's fading out, just as it reaches that strong note you want it to fade out at. My suggestions are simple: A mute object, a time-skip object and an unmute object. Mute: Found in the level editor/creator, this extremely useful tool allows you to stop the music at any point. It can be found on the final tab, as it would work similarly to other things found on that tab - providing an instant change when the player walks past it. This would be useful: -Because it's my idea -Because it's awesome -Because it's great for perfectionists The graphic would be something along the lines of the classic volume symbol in black, with a red X through the center. Unmute: You may be asking "Can we resume the music after it has been muted? If so, how would that work?" Well, I'm here to answer those questions! The unmute object would lie next to the mute object, and it would resume the music at the point in the editor that it was placed. This would be useful for a few reasons: -Building tension within levels -Censoring parts of levels The graphic would be something along the lines of the classic volume symbol in black. Time-skip: Now I'm going to be discussing the time-skip object, it would sit next to the music muting/unmuting objects, it would be placed in the level to skip to a certain point of the music, later on, or for repeating the same parts again. You would select the "Edit Object" option, where the music would be set, to the nearest second, similar to the interface for choosing a starting time for your custom music. This would be useful for: -Remixing songs Problems include: -Line creation compatibility (There is probably some kind of work around possible though) The graphic could be a digital clock showing the time 00:00 in red
@hightower820 Thank you, really appreciate it It's a real pleasure to see all the things players create. I get surprised and impressed everytime something new shows up that I didn't even consider you could create. I think this is a great community, and I really appreciate the time players spend on creating and helping me improve the game. You are the best! Lots of new things coming in the future updates, look forward to sharing all the stuff soon Nice find, featured
Its not impossible, but it is a bit tricky. I will look at it and see what I can do, and might be able to add something like that in the future. For now you do have the ability to get that effect, but you would have to upload your mix to Newgrounds manually and edit the song in an external program (Audacity would be the most simple choice I think) Good idea though, thanks
Hey RobTop, found a nice level to feature/rate Name: Haunted Dreams Created By: Nocturne and Skittles24 ID: 3978428 Really nicely created and I think it could use a rating.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oui1V5uPcnY and feature this auto level please.. The id is on the description
Hey RobTop, have you decided on the 2.0 song? I'm not asking for what it is - just have you got one for the level yet? And my second question is have you started creating the level yet? Again, I'm not asking what it is, just a yes or no answer will do fine
I see what you mean. I tried to steer away from spamming him with requests. I can understand it would give you a headache reading all those requests over and over again... I don't make levels that often anyway, so there's hardly any requests from me for a little while
I'm going to post quite a few level IDs in a while because I held a contest and the prize was the level to be (hopefully) featured and rated. but I want everyone's levels to be rated for participating in the contest . get prepared Rubby hopefully you can feature the top 3 and give others star and feature if they are worth it
Hey another idea, in my level Remake Level 3, which you rated (thank you very much btw ) I made a water and waterfall effect, and was wondering if you had ever thought of adding water into the game. When you're in the water, if you tap, you sink down, and when you release you shoot up, and depending how deep you were, will depend how far above the water you fly. (A concept like this is in the game Jetpack Joyride, when you go into a vehicle and the bottom half the screen gets filled up with water) Maybe it would be very hard to make in a game like this, I dunno, but I think it's a good idea
Yup, I have the song locked down already I thought about it before, but mostly as a visual effect. Have a lot of ideas for gamemodes I can use in future updates
Awesome, I'm assuming it's either a DJ-Nate/DJVI or Waterflame song? Glad to hear you have more gamemodes planned. I was surprised that I'm actually quite good at the wave mode, even thought I never played as it before 1.9! And as for water as a visual effect, I don't mind. I just think that some sort of detail like that could be really effective. And I forgot to mention before, but are you planning on making any more gradient backgrounds like in 1.9? And have you considered creating a more 3D floor? At the minute all the floors seem rather 2D like, and when you put 3D effects from blocks and spikes touching the floor, it doesn't always seem quite right...
Ya I will be adding at least 2 new backgrounds in 2.0, one 3Dish and one normal. Not sure how I would create a 3D ground, but I could probably make something that will work. Needs some testing first
Maybe have small parts of the pattern come outwards, and other parts going inwards, but use it like the 3D effects you can use on the blocks in the level. (If that makes sense, if not I'll try and send a screenshot)
Here's what I mean: Say what the player is on is the ground, and there are effects of the pattern going inwards, and outwards. And the alternative is to have a similar style to the 3D objects you can use when making a level only on all of the ground for the whole level Hope that makes what I'm trying to say a bit clearer
Hey RobTop, I was making some icons, and I thought you could take a look for some inspiration. there are more to come, but this is just a bit of what me and Viprin are working on
Hey RobTop I Have an idea for 2.0. So I think it would be cool if you could customize the icon for the mini gamemode. Like choose which icon u want to use for the small icon because right now its just a boring square. Thanks
Hello, RobTop. Could you change the password character limit to 35 characters or more. Otherwise I can't use my normal password for GD. Thanks
