Id: 3949358 Hi, can you guys check out my level Freeze Stone VIP (ID: 3949358) and rate and like it too My dream is to get level starred!
Also, since I've been making Geometry Dash levels, I've grown more of an interest in games design, like what you do, but I don't know how to programme or anything... Do you know any websites/videos that have tutorials for that kind of thing or not? I had an idea for a game similar to Geometry Dash with icons you could customise, etc. but it was more like Mario where you can jump on platforms and go back through the level, instead of travelling forwards in the game like in GD. Sorry for the long post. Just wondering.
http://www.codecademy.com/?locale_code=en try this,I used it monthes ago and it look a very good website to learn everything about programation
You cant expect to keep spamming an external link for another site. The issue we've had here is some people seem to spam like anything, one person posted 30+ times about his level nagging at the dev as he hadnt 'seen it' yet. Others have posted non stop about the same level. Just post once about a level, if people post 10+ times about it then those will get deleted Do you honestly think someone posting 20/30 times about the same level is good ? This is a thread about a game, not a competition to post the largest images ever, how to use different font sizes or colour to get the devs attention or say how many sugar cubes they've eaten etc.
You can use engines to make your codes become a game. Most known is Game Maker Studio. You can find game making forums (tigsource or game maker community). You can find a programmer for you but usually they want to get paid. You can still find one who want to do it for free. Or you can just program yourself the game (code academy is good, but you can google codes) I used to visit these forums because I was making a game but I lost everything. For more details you can pm me. I suck at codes, but I know some coders who could help for free or places where to start it. Wish you well on this great journey of game making
I actually developped a game once... It was about tapping number jumping around on your screen... It sucked and I gave up on it. Since then i'm working on a Math app xD
Thanks I'll have a look at the Code Academy website. Looks useful, I don't know when I may start making a game, but it's something I think I may enjoy doing in the future
As far as I know, the link to the forum was posted 3 times...(But you were busy deleting them so it probably was posted more often) I don't think posting a level 30 times a day is good and I was the one to report TG Ruf... I think it's ok that you delete the direct links to the forum, but you even delete post just mentioning it... Darnoc made the new forum because this one became very messy. There were lately over 30 pages a day posted in this thread, something like that simply can't work. I know there were way to many pictures and totally offtopic stuff, I think that's also one of the reasons darnoc made the new forums. There are now threads for offtopic stuff, something that just wasn't posible at TA. TA is good for smaller games, where to only post are: "How does that work????". Geometry Dash is a HUGE game with over 2 million players. You just can't put a game that popular in a single thread. If I harmed you, I feel sorry, I didn't meant to. This is just my personal opinion
Looking at the image, RobTop said that monsters were bigger than saw blades, but compared to the icon, they seem about the same size as the saw blades... Maybe the icon is part of a new game mode like a jumbo mode or something. Maybe it's not, but having a jumbo/giant mode would be a great idea though!
I agree that the amounts of level requests by some people is a bit over the top, and changing the colour of requests and making them a bigger font was a bit annoying too. Apart from that I thought that it was OK just to have a general little chat with other players around this website... Apparently not
It's alright to have a 'bit of a chat' but it was quite OTT. The 'bits of chat' push the thread to the top constantly or always at the top of the hot threads section on tha TA app. Is that fair for other games or devs who generally dont have people posting 20 times about a level ? The threads about the game though not a chat room which it was turning into Still can't believe some people kept nagging at Robtop 20 or 30 times like some crazed stalker ! Poor guy !
I think the forum was pretty messy with all those level requests and people talking about illuminati and other off-topic stuff (sorry for posting the link, I feel like one of those spammers right now...). I think that this thread will not be as active as before or maybe not active at all, but anyways I think that there will be a lot of other games on the hot threads section now and btw I think that there should be some option for the game dev to remove posts. Thanks, -araoro EDIT: sorry for bad english
Yeah, I kinda feel sorry for him with all the spam (okay, I can be guilty for spamming levels sometimes too, but I... Try... To refrain myself) At the same time though, it must be amazing to see what others can develop (and... Not so amazing for what other's can develop) He has reason to be proud; it's a game that some people live off of, and the others, scream at. The reason so many people spam is because of the crave for fame, not something very nice, if you design a decent level, hundreds of thousands of people could play it, but only if the game creator notices it. When he doesn't notice it, it can be painful, knowing that you have wasted several days (weeks in some cases) creating a masterpiece that will never be a light, in the thick, thick darkness of other's creations. That is why so many people spam so much. As for being a little off topic with the game, this post itself isn't too far off from drifting away, so below this sentence, I will finally get around to writing a full review for the game. ---------- Well done Robert, You have truly made a masterpiece when it comes to games, Not only have you coded an addictive game, but you have also created an amazing community of gamers, although from time to time, the hate and the spam appears, there are those who encourage you to beat levels, those who enjoy watching your growth as a creator, and those who encourage your growth of fame, it's truly astounding. Good points: ~A great difficulty curb ~Brilliant level designing (from you) ~Welcoming GUI's that don't burn your eye sockets like a shrivelled lemon ~Great graphical designs for icons/ships/ufo's etc etc ~Limitless fun because of the large amount of online levels ~Brilliant level designing (from others) with great rewards that make you proud to be who you are Bad points: ~Common spam and hate (unavoidable) ~As an independent developer, you cannot truly explore your entire community, and I appreciate that, however, maybe one person isn't enough, you should hire people to go through the community for you, people whom are active, and a pleasure to be around. Summary: 9.8/10 I thoroughly enjoy this game, as a creator, as a gamer, and as someone who enjoys living with the community. If there is ever to be a better mobile game, it's unlikely to be within my lifetime. Thank you, RobTop.
