Speaking of 2.0, I'm not sure Waterflame - Invaders will be the next song. It doesn't fit with Mario Bros at all.
The real question is: Will there be an official Mario level? if yes, i'm disgusted. Mario is not worthy for Geometry dash. and we have enough user mario maps. Maybe it's just a pic that shows what we can do with the new features. Or maybe it's not only mario... Maybe it's other retro games heroes as well. Wait retro games? ILLUMIATI! I really don't think the new map will be Mario themed. If I remember correctly, RobTop had once said that he thinks it would be cool if you could make custom tiles/objects for a level that people can download for gameplay, similar to songs. If the new level would be Mario themed, I think that's going a bit far.
I think it's basically what you said. Resource packs. We can make and upload our own, they get likes similar to levels, they can become featured (in their own separate category), they DON'T give creator points (or at least they shouldn't) and people can download them. Levels can also recommend certain resource packs, but it's optional. You could also use the resource pack in any level. Similar to Minecraft in a way.
