So now we have two producers on here Keep in mind that I review with the expectancy that everyone should be at professional level, so try not to be too offended. I also rarely find things I really like, so I wouldn't expect a ton of praise. Overall the track is pretty bland. The same instruments are used throughout the song, and the drums are very generic. It's also pretty repetitive, especially for a song that's only a minute long. The first thing I'd work on is making the song more interesting. Put more instruments in, make it longer, add something unique. The next thing I'd really work on is melodic content. I know it's deep house, but you can still have a better melody than the one you have playing. As much as I hate to say it, the melody is pretty bad. I'm very critical of melodies because that's what I spend hours stressing over. The melody should be what catches peoples attention and tells them if they should listen or not. Start off by having a chord progression and a scale. The melody you have sounds all over and some of the notes sound out of place. A chord progression and scale will help you make your melody more straightforward. I can't complain about the mixing because it's not really bad. It's just such an empty song that it really doesn't need it. However, that doesn't mean it's a good thing. An empty mix is almost as bad as a bad one in my opinion. You should always have something happening, whether that's harmonies or chords or just random sounds that add a bit to the song, it helps add something to it. They give the track a sort of twist that keeps people interested. Another thing I'd like to point out is that your instrument choice was somewhat bland. Again, there weren't many instruments so this was going to be a problem no matter what. It's like having a house track made out of supersaws and drums (which many of my first tracks were). It just doesn't sound good. One last thing that I'll warn you about are tutorials. I don't know if you used one or not for this track, but I'd recommend not following any. All of your tracks in the different genres will be similar. In some aspects this is good, but in most it isn't. Just listen to the genre you want to make and dissect it until you have an understanding of it. Speaking of tutorials, me and a couple of other people are starting up a group that will make things to help people like you make your own music, not somewhat copied off of tutorials or other's songs. It'll help you produce music more intuitively. I'm the FL guy, and Zyzyx, Miyolophone and JoarZ/Glare all use Logic, so I'll be the one to help you out. I plan on doing things differently than everyone else who makes tutorials, because none of the tutorials out there are really that great, as I'm sure you've noticed. We were also all in the same boat as you about a year ago, so we know what it can be like. That's all of the self advertising I'm going to do for now In the end, this track isn't really that great. Now, I don't say that do discourage you. I do understand that it's your first track, but I don't think that should be a reason for you to be coddled. Yes, I did go a bit easier this time, but I was still kind of harsh, because otherwise you won't get better. Really just work on making the track more interesting and fill it up more. Sorry for the essay of a review. It's just easier to push you in the right direction before it's too late
1) Robot 2) Custom Songs Spoiler 3) "Soon" I'm working on getting FL, but frankly don't understand it Why did I know this was gonna happen?
Hopefully you could be helpful to me because I just started really getting a feel of FL (I want to make trap music, not deep house btw), so maybe your tutorials would help to some extent
Don't forget me! http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/700053 Spoiler oh wait nvm i suck with fl studio dont mind me
I hope I can help you both I just have to record my Intro to FL videos and I have to get Zyzyx to record his Intro to Logic videos and then I can start making tutorial videos. A couple things to note: 1. I don't really like Trap that much. I can give you pointers outside of the tutorials, but frankly, I don't know enough about it and tbh it's really easy to make. 2. I'm the only one working in FL. Joar would be helping except he got a mac and uses Logic now. Logic is probably going to be the main DAW of the channel. 3. We have no clue when we're going to launch. There's still a lot of things we have to get sorted before the official launch. I'm hoping to get it up by at most November. (4). I'll barely upload Dec. - Mar. as I'll most likely be joining my school's winter drumline. The main FL stuff will probably start in April and slow down a lot in June until about September. I have maybe 4 months of wiggle room per year, so I'll get as much as I can get done in that time. This is only if I decide to do drumline in the winter and summer, which I may not do. Hopefully we'll be able to get everything sorted soon and you'll see us start pumping out videos
read through the whole thing, thanks a lot for the feedback! i only used one tutorial on how to make the bass for the deep house and the rest was my 'creativity' if anything. and is the group a discord group or a skype group? i'd like to see it. also note; i only have the demo of FL Studio so i had to work on that all in one go and i got pretty unmotivated halfway through so thats why its very repetitive. thanks again for the feedback
No need to sound sad... But that's in my opinion a good idea for GD players who also play MC, like me. I usually actually play Minecraft more, so let me make it! I don't know how but I'll figure it out... What should I call it?
The problem is, this thread is meant for people who want to talk about geometry dash, not minecraft. Another problem is that half of your posts are about minecraft, not geometry dash
Only around 10 to 20 of them are. But I am talking about anyone, not just you guys. Anyone who wants to play Minecraft. Also, I am currently trying to beat so many levels on GD it's stressful. I don't really know what to say, but I think I'm going to resort to creating levels for a while. And that's hard. I am sorry I like another game... But I enjoy both, you know. I am near 50 posts.
The fact that you used the demo actually changes my opinion on the track. I was thinking full version, so I probably would have been less harsh had I known it was the demo The group I'm talking about is currently only in the Skype chat phase, but hopefully by November it will be a fully functioning YouTube channel with other things (Like a Twitter, SoundCloud, etc.) Sadly we don't have a public group chat (yet) so there's not much to see. There might be a group chat in the future where you can ask questions, make requests, discuss general music things, etc. I'll let you know if we start one.
You're right, trap music IS easy to make, because I actually dissected a few tracks and realized it's always made of 5 things: a lead synth, 808's, kicks, snares, and hi hats xD I won't have a problem with the wait, because I need a new PC and i'm probably going to be swamped in work. You're at 40, so theoretically, since you said you only have about 20 MC posts, it's basically a half of all your posts.
toucharcade is a forum for iOS apps. there's probably a forum for minecraft pocket edition, but talking about the pc edition on that, let alone here, is just as off-topic as talking about any other game. it's okay to like other games. it's just not okay to talk about other games on a thread very very specifically dedicated to one and only one game. if you really want to advertise your realm, put something in your signature asking people to pm you about it, like i did that's okay because as long as your posts are on topic, you aren't breaking any rules
Rob now has 0 stats more often than before (Tell me if the grammar is ok in this phrase..i have PET's entry test in October and i want to be prepared)
to be as overcritical as possible, that grammar looks perfect, although the structure of the sentence is a tiny bit shaky.. i would've phrased it more like "Rob's stats are 0 more frequently than they used to be.", but how you said it is perfectly okay too!! good luck on your test! <3 and also yeah i'm hoping that means something about 2.1 hah
