Acording to that website the app is going to be released in New Zealand first... And then the rest of the world acording to their time zone...

If it was in New Zealand first, they would already have it. Being an app developer, I assume rob knows this. So, instead of setting a date, he is probably just going to release it himself, and right now he is probably just checking to make sure nothing goes wrong this time, because I'm sure we all remember the android and PC incident when 2.0 came out.
