I too agree, I saw some levels that are rated "easy" which are actually the difficulty of a 5 star level. There are changes that need to be made, but like RobTop said, it is tricky... :/
Another thing I didn't add on my last post was what the solution could be... I know that having ratings up to 12 or 14 stars would be ideal when you first think about it, but I agree with RobTop when he said that it would only encourage even harder demons... RobTop is a genius, maybe he would find a way. I had an idea that if a Demon is ridiculously hard, it should still be rated Demon and 10 stars, but not featured. Now I've looked at both sides of the arguement here: Pros - People want levels featured, so therefore they should only make demons that have an appropriate difficulty level, not like Cataclysm which is almost impossible. Also if a level is featured, you'd probably expect to complete it at some point - Cataclysm would take an eternity for most people! - Even though waaay too hard levels wouldn't get featured, they would still get a rating, and therefore the creator still gets a creator point for the leaderboard. Cons - Most demons have very good deco and take a lot of time to build and verify, and it would be unfair if someone put in a ton of time and effort to make a fantastically designed level, only to find it not featured because it's too hard. - Someone may not think their level is too hard (they made it, and invariably a level you make is easier to you than to everyone else, as you know where everything is), so someone may make their level, think it's difficult but not too hard, but then find out it doesn't get featured because to others its far too tough. I realise this probably isn't a very fair potential solution to this dare I say 'issue' of mine, but if anyone has any ideas, tell me. Maybe there's a simpler solution. I know you don't have to play demons, and I'm not trying to be a selfish prick here by saying 'you can't make a demon too hard', but I feel now that more than 95% of demons made now are more than what I'd call demon rated. If I was RobTop, I'd rate most of them 14, 15 or 16 stars... Maybe even more. But I'm not RobTop
Can you also nerf the requirements for the 100 likes icon? It's based mostly on luck and how well noticed you are in the community, which results in spamming of levels in the comments section and annoying "100 likes" levels. I think you should change the requirements that actually tests your skill level in the game, like get 50 blue coins or something of that sort...
Yeah, you guys are right some people need to calm down a bit with the demon levels i mean c'mon TUP, Cataclysm, Supersonic, thats what i call challenge crazy when that happens it's time to take it down like 2 notches just to make it fair. Just speaking my mind
Yes indeed. I'm embarrassed to say that there's a 2 star easy featured level called 'Glow Surface' that I cannot do. I haven't tried it for a long time, but I would rate it normal 3. The first parts are fine. Super easy, but then you get to the narrow slope sections and I just can't judge quick enough when to tap! I'd probably rate most 3 star levels now 4. And the other funny thing is that there's some harder 6 or 7 star levels I've done in like 3 attempts, but then hard 4s that take me over 50! I know that rating things can't be perfect, and there will always be someone who disagrees with a level rating. I guess RobTop finds some levels easier for him than I would, and others harder for him than I would. And that's probably the same for most players.
Your solution could potentially decrease the amount of "impossible" levels in the community, but keep in mind that there aren't too many extreme demon levels at this point ( the only extreme demon levels that were made in 1.9 are The Ultimate Phase, Cataclysm, Sonic Wave, and Bloodbath, assuming it even gets verified). As well, not featuring levels that some people actually verified legitimately ( like Bloodbath, if it gets verified) is partly unfair because they put a lot of effort building/verifying the level. The thing is, I know RobTop said more stars for demons will lead to harder levels, but think about it: The Nightmare definitely isn't as hard as Cataclysm. Like RobTop, people are making hard levels anyway. More stars would reward the people who completed a very hard demon level while also avoiding the trouble of having a new difficulty ( achievement confusion).
I also tried "Glow Surface", I stopped at 48% because of a tight wave sequence which is pretty difficult. I quit playing it because I don't want to put in too much effort into a level that is rated "Easy" and "2 stars". I wonder levels of 2.0 will look like, I'll probably only be able to finish 4 star levels when the update comes out. Edit: I went back to it and got 87%, but I still think it's too hard for a 2 star level.
i actually tried a level the other day called time crunch that is harder 7* and it is actually harder than some demons i beat like ystep or sky realm
That sounds like a good idea, rating quality would be nice, and I suppose that would help get more unnoticed people seen, maybe you could have a rating of 1 to 5 stars, 1 being not good quality and 5 being amazing quality. Then there could be a search option for 'unrated high quality levels', which it would be easy to find levels that deserve features/stars. I'm happy to hear that the map-packs will have fair levels too There's several Demon map-packs I haven't completed, not because I don't think I could, I just haven't really sat down to play them fully yet. With practice, I think I could manage them. I've seen a few Demons that are also a bit too complicated in their deco, which makes it very hard for me to see where I'm going. Thats not always a bad thing, because again, it makes them trickier, but sometimes it's just a bit too OTT. :S Not such a big problem tho, so I can cope with that ^^
While it sounds silly, just adding 1 star to every* 1.9 level actually fixes it. (*excluding autos, demons and fairly rated levels) Also deciding on one level to represent a difficulty per difficulty so that you can compare eaiser would help. DIFFICULTIES Easy 2 Normal 3 Hard 4 Hard 5 Harder 6 Harder 7 Insane 8 Insane 9 Demon: Death Moon (Anything higher is Demon too) Help me
That's my point, there's many good things and many bad things about that idea. Another idea of mine is to add a new difficulty that is harder than Demon, for those extreme demons, but not have achievements for them, so that people who can't manage them eg. myself can still get the achievements, but don't have to worry about those. Maybe there could be a new leaderboard for anyone who does complete those levels, and BTW it would still only reward 10 stars, but as I say there's a leaderboard. Then there's the issue that could encourage hackers to cheat through those levels to get on to the boards.
I've heard that you decide the spot of levels on the featured list by giving each level an invisible score. Why not make that score visible? And maybe even allow people to sort the top creators leaderboard by average level score?
I think that's what I have on the level too... I'm fine with wave, I think I'm fairly good with it, (not good enough for Nine Circles style levels tho). Am I the only one who finds Problematic still very tough even though people say it's easy? I have just under 50% but it will take me ages to get 100%
I find Problematic pretty tough too, but only because the wave is the game mode I'm the worst at with the exception of the ball ( people have a tendency of making really tough levels with it). I can beat the cube section following the wave part with a fair amount of attempts, but I can't beat the wave parts... I hope RobTop doesn't make a Nine Circles map pack ( like he said he would), otherwise I would never be able to beat it.
It isn't easy. It is the easiest Nine Circles level though. To me, this is how a medium demon should be. I had to try to complete it, yet it didn't feel overwhelming and it felt great actually finishing it.
Agreed. It's difficult, but yes that's how a medium demon should be. At the minute a medium demon would probably be the original Nine Circles, but for me that's an extreme. If anyone was wondering, the Demon is spent 500 attempts on practice on was Etzer's level Doomsday (I think that's it's name) It's on one of the first few featured pages currently. The design if fine, it's a little repetitive IMO, but I still like it, but the thing is almost the whole level is fake blocks, real blocks and invisible paths, which I don't call a fair demon. You would have to have a crazy good memory to remember where to go and when. Oh and did I mention there's also dual parts with different paths and a swing copter style part which for me = complete nightmare!
Did Robtop actually give a prediction to 2.0 coming out? On etzers stream I know he said in a few days it will be done, but I hear 2 weeks alot
