Level 8 was easy, beat on my first try... All I did was place random missile towers, then got them to level 6. I ended up with like 5 or 7 of them, along with 4 thmp towers fully upgraded. Just place em randomly.
i dont think you've played too much free-form (no pre defined paths) TD's much? its not about trial and error. its about strategy. more so then pre-defined paths. you have to plan what your gonna do before you do it, you dont just place towers anywhere. its all about strategy and planning before taking action. you have to think of the consequences with every move you make on the game. it even says that as a tip when you die
Okay sorry for my rant. I finally made it but I didn't like it. I hate it when there are obviously no rules where it's possible to place towers. You have to drag a tower around searching for a green place (those places should have been highlighted).
At the beginning of the level it's clearly stated that creeps can pass through the orange fileds and that you can't place the towers on top of them So you can place towers on every black field, unless you make the creeps unable to reach the exit
No, it is a very accurate description of the game, especially the last sentence: To quote the website of the game: And to mention what the author wrote on the geoDefense website: But if you don't get that GD _should be_ hard and that each level is a puzzle with it's own rules, you don't have fun. Like Tracy did not have. I love GD. Currently I'm on l3 of GDS. Like it .
the reviewer 'tracy' obviously doesnt know the tricks to GD:Swarm quote: when a fix is as simple as double tapping the laser... this is where she really fails... she obviously doesnt know HOW to use the towers, what their strengths are and how to place them... the level design is great, i dont know what shes on about. they need better reviewers before saying this stuff thats totaly untrue just because she cant play the game properly. TD game are NOT... ill say it again. ARE NOT meant to be easy... their strategy games for a reason
I love GD, don't get me wrong, but it is lacking in the usability department. For instance, where does it say that * you can click on a creep to aim at it * what the different upgrades do (for instance missile tower lvl 6 is better than 7) * you can double-click towers ... and so on. I know how it works since I have played the first game, but that's not the point. If one user has trouble understanding the game mechanics, there are probably more people out there like him.
Agreed. I know how to play it cause I picked up the original geoDefense. And I think that you should remove the "Get geoDefense" button too, people might press it accidentally. And most people who got this have geoDefense. I think.
It can't be just me... I'm not finding this hard at all? If anything I'm finding it easier than GD. I'm also finding this an absolute pleasure to play. Jamie.
Anyone got tips or strategies on achieving high scores?? I'm working on level E1 right now. I've gotten my score up a bit (41200) but nowhere near the top of the leaderboards. I would really like to see what other people are doing... Thanks
Tellls about tapping creeps, and locking lasers in the scrolling tips when you fail a level. L7 missiles better than L6... That's what most players come to find, but L7 provides much better range. Silly to think that should be a "tool-tip", imo. Pocketgamer Tracy's review was kinda silly. Really seems that he doesn't understand the game mechanics. "Errant" missiles don't seek a new target until lvl4....that's why some missiles go off the screen. (I can't imagine if he played some of the levels of GD with the "donut" creeps that can't be hit by missiles or green gun towers!! He'd lose his mind! "This game has serious flaws!!". Oh dear.) Of course the laser towers target the first creep, not target the line where it will do the most damage. Can you imagine if David had written code for intelligent targetting? People would be complaining, "it switched from shooting the first creep, and he got through and I lost!"
+1 So far I've managed to complete every level at first try. But I have plenty of levels to go - finishing the easy levels so I hope the medium and hard ones are more challenging.
Ah ok, haven't failed a level yet (haven't played that much), but still, it's a bad user experience. One solution is to add a help screen with all the tips and info about towers. It is always a bad idea to assume the user will figure things out. We've had our fair share of "bad" reviews as well, for instance Fingergaming didn't get Sway: http://fingergaming.com/2009/02/27/review-sway/ But hey, that's life. The comments to the article are nice though
